PERANCANGAN DESAIN SAMPUL, ILUSTRASI, DAN TATA LETAK NASKAH NOVEL "UNREQUITED"

Novels are books that are still widely read by fans, ranging from teenagers to adults. Many of the types of novels published became best sellers. This makes the writer as a graphic designer innovate to produce novels with different advantages. Therefore, the author uses illustrations in the novel "Unrequited" in each chapter, so that readers can better understand the contents of the novel with the visualization that has been made. In addition, the illustrations in the manuscript have a relationship with the layout of the writing in order to produce illustration elements and a balanced layout, so that it looks comfortable when read. In the graphic design process in making designs, the author uses a creative process based on Landa's theory. This theory describes starting from the stages of the illustration formation process to the layout process starting from thumbnail sketch, rough design, and comprehensive design. Process of making the cover design, illustration, and layout of the novel "Unrequited" the author must perform several stages in order to produce a work well.

Buku novel merupakan buku yang hingga saat ini masih banyak peminat bacanya, mulai dari kalangan remaja hingga dewasa. Banyak dari jenis buku novel yang diterbitkan menjadi best seller. Hal ini membuat penulis sebagai perancang grafis berinovasi untuk menghasilkan karya buku novel dengan keunggulan yang berbeda. Oleh karena itu, penulis menggunakan ilustrasi pada buku novel “Unrequited” di setiap chapter, agar pembaca dapat lebih memahami isi cerita novel tersebut dengan visualisasi yang telah dibuat. Selain itu, ilustrasi pada naskah memiliki keterkaitan dengan penataletakan tulisan, agar menghasilkan elemen ilustrasi dan tata letak yang seimbang, sehingga terlihat nyaman ketika dibaca. Pada proses perancangan grafis dalam membuat desain, penulis menggunakan proses kreatif berdasarkan teori dari Landa. Teori ini menjabarkan mulai dari tahapan-tahapan proses pembentukan ilustrasi sampai proses penataletakan, mulai dari thumbnail sketch, rough design, dan comperhesives design. Dalam proses pembuatan desain sampul, ilustrasi, dan tata letak Novel “Unrequited” penulis harus melakukan beberapa tahapan agar menghasilkan suatu karya dengan baik.
