Abstract

ABSTRACT
There are various visual styles in making textures, from realistic to stylized in the form of hand painted which is painted manually. The stylized hand painted visual style has been made iconic by game studios by Blizzard with "World of Warcraft" or Riot Games with "League of Legends". This style arose because of technical limitations, such as time constraints on creating detailed polygon models, using simple shaders, lighting, and rendering. Mengkuli game development applies stylized graphics in accordance with the game design document. The Agile-GDLC method was used in developing the game, involving stages and iterations for flexibility to changing GDD needs. GDLC consists of six stages, namely initiation, pre-production, production, testing, beta test, and release. Besides GDLC there are game development techniques including modeling, unwrapping, texturing, materialing, and set dressing. Mengkuli's visual game assets were developed with Substance Painter to create stylized hand painted style textures through the filters feature. Modeling game assets using a low poly approach and exporting textures with a resolution of 1024x1024 pixels, reducing the size of the game to 150 megabytes. And the game Mengkuli was successfully released on the itch.io platform.

Ada berbagai gaya visual dalam pembuatan tekstur, dari realistis hingga stylized berupa hand painted yang dilukis secara manual. Gaya visual stylized hand painted telah dibuat ikonik oleh studio game oleh Blizzard dengan "World of Warcraft" atau Riot Games dengan "League of Legends". Gaya ini muncul karena batasan teknis, seperti batasan waktu pembuatan model poligon yang detail, penggunaan shader sederhana, pencahayaan, dan rendering. Pengembangan game Mengkuli menerapkan grafis bergaya stylized yang sesuai dengan game design document. Metode Agile-GDLC digunakan dalam pengembangan game tersebut, melibatkan tahapan dan iterasi untuk fleksibilitas terhadap perubahan kebutuhan GDD, GDLC terdiri dari enam tahapan yaitu inisiasi, pra-produksi, produksi, pengujian, beta test, dan rilis. Selain GDLC terdapat teknik pengembangan game meliputi modeling, unwrapping, texturing, materialing, dan set dressing. Visual game assets Mengkuli dikembangkan dengan Substance Painter untuk menciptakan tekstur gaya stylized hand painted melalui fitur filters. Pemodelan game assets menggunakan pendekatan low poly dan eksport tekstur dengan resolusi 1024x1024 pixel, sehingga mengurangi ukuran game hingga 150 megabyte. Dan game Mengkuli berhasil dirilis pada platform itch.io.
