Plate Making adalah kegiatan pembuatan acuan cetak atau pelat offset di bagian pracetak. Saat ini proses pembuatan pelat semakin dimudahkan dengan munculnya teknologi baru yaitu mesin Computer to Conventional Plate yang mana cara kerjanya langsung bisa diproses dari komputer ke prosesor pelat tanpa menggunakan film. Mesin inilah yang telah dipakai oleh perusahaan PT Medan Media Grafikatama dalam proses plate making. Oleh karena itu, tujuan Tugas Akhir ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses dan evaluasi kualitas pada proses plate making menggunakan mesin Computer to Conventional Plate Cron di PT Medan Media Grafikatama. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan penulis adalah observasi, wawancara dan survey. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan diketahui bahwa ada beberapa standar yang harus diperhatikan dalam evaluasi kualitas pada proses plate making menggunakan mesin CTCP Cron di PT Medan Media Grafikatama yaitu pengendalian SDM, material, mesin, metode kerja dan lingkungan. Langkah-langkah pada proses plate making yaitu tahap persiapan file, tahap pengaturan settingan di software laboo, tahap pengoperasian mesin CTCP, tahap pemeriksaan hasil pelat, tahap finishing dan terakhir tahap distribusi pelat ke bagian proses cetak. Masalah yang sering terjadi pada saat proses plate making di perusahaan ini antara lain raster tidak sesuai target, pelat mengalami oksidasi, baret, dan kotor, emulsi pelat rontok, permukaan pelat meluber dan raster rusak atau bergaris.

Plate Making is the activity of making printed references or offset plates in the precast section. Currently, the process of making plates has been made easier by the advent of new technology, namely the Computer to Conventional Plate machine, which can be processed directly from the computer to the plate processor without using film. This machine has been used by the company PT Medan Media Graphicatama in the plate making process. Therefore, the purpose of this Final Project is to find out how the process and Evaluation control in the plate making process uses a Computer to Conventional Plate Cron machine at PT Medan Media Graphicatama. Data collection methods used by the author are observation, interviews and literature study. Based on the results of observations, it is known that there are several standards that must be considered in quality control in the plate making process using the CTCP Cron machine at PT Medan Media Graphicatama, namely human resource control, materials, machines, work methods and the environment. The steps in the plate making process are the file preparation stage, the setting stage in the Laboo software, the CTCP machine operation stage, the plate result inspection stage, the finishing stage and finally the plate distribution stage to the printing process section. Problems that often occur during the plate making process at this company include the raster not meeting the target, the plate is oxidized, scratched and dirty, the plate emulsion falls off, the surface of the plate overflows and the raster is damaged or streaked.
