PERANCANGAN DESAIN KOVER DAN TATA LETAK DALAM NASKAH NOVEL “UTAS TEJA”

These days, novels are widely available. From published children's books to mature works that the public enjoys. This forces the author to innovate in order to make the book "Utas Teja" marketable by paying attention to the creative process in generating appropriate cover designs and the process of designing script layouts that make it easier for readers to understand the book's contents. Through a review of the literature that the author bases this book on, using Rustan, Kristiyono, and Sudarma. With surveys, observations, and literature research as the primary data sources, the author includes a descriptive methodology. Utilizing the author's modified version of Rustan's notion of the Graphic Design Planning Stage, which comprises preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Furthermore, it is supplemented by other ideas about the layout preparation through the Layout Principle, which includes emphasis, sequence, contrast, balance, and unity. Based on the discussion, it can be concluded that the author must complete several stages in the process of creating the cover design and layout of the novel "Utas Teja," including the preparation stage, implementation stage, and evaluation stage while taking into account design and layout principles as well as preferences of consumers.

Saat ini, novel dapat mudah ditemukan di mana pun tempatnya. Mulai dari novel anak-anak hingga dewasa diterbitkan dan digandrungi oleh pasarnya. Hal ini membuat penulis berinovasi untuk membuat novel “Utas Teja” yang sesuai dengan pasarnya dengan memperhatikan proses kreatif dalam penciptaan desain kover yang relevan dan proses perancangan tata letak naskah yang memudahkan pembaca untuk tahu isi buku. Melalui tinjauan pustaka yang penulis gunakan dari Rustan, Kristiyono, dan Sudarma sebagai landasan pembuatan buku ini. Penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pengambilan data melalui survei, observasi, dan studi pustaka. Dengan menggunakan teori Rustan tentang Tahap Perencanaan Desain Grafis yang penulis modifikasi meliputi, persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi sebagai landasan pembahasan laporan ini. Serta, didukung dengan teori lain mengenai penyusunan tata letak melalui Prinsip Tata Letak yang terdiri dari emphasis, sequence, contrast, balance, dan unity. Berdasarkan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam proses pembuatan desain kover dan tata letak buku novel “Utas Teja”, penulis harus melakukan beberapa tahapan yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi dengan memperhatikan prinsip desain dan tata letak, serta keinginan pasar.
