Perancangan Desain Sampul dan Layout Naskah Novel “Villainess Life”

Isekai-themed local fantasy novel are less popular, even though the reading public
is very fond of this subgenre. On the other hand, people also tend to like illustrations
such as comics (manga) because of their great interest in Japanese culture. Based
on this, the author created a fantasy novel as a final project with the title "
Perancangan Desain Sampul dan Layout Naskah Novel Villainess Life". The
literature review that the author uses is the theory of the stages of making graphic
design by Widya and Darmawan (2016), as well as the theory of the stages of
making digital illustrations by Ramdani (2019). The method used by the author is
a literature study as a reference and a comparison of works. The author uses work
steps by making concepts, choosing media, creating ideas, preparing data and
design, revising, final artwork, and printing process, as well as sketching, outlining,
and coloring for illustrations. After going through the design process, the cover
design and layout of the "Villainess Life" novel manuscript were produced.

Novel fantasi lokal bertema Isekai kurang dilirik, padahal masyarakat pembaca
sangat menyukai subgenre tersebut. Disisi lain, masyarakat juga cenderung
menyukai ilustrasi seperti komik (manga) karena ketertarikan besar pada budaya
Jepang. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penulis membuat novel fantasi sebagai karya
tugas akhir dengan judul “Perancangan Desain Sampul dan Layout Naskah Novel
Villainess Life”. Tinjauan pustaka yang penulis gunakan adalah teori tahap
pembuatan desain grafis oleh Widya dan Darmawan (2016), serta teori tahap
pembuatan ilustrasi digital oleh Ramdani (2019). Metode yang digunakan penulis
adalah studi pustaka sebagai referensi dan perbandingan karya. Penulis
menggunakan langkah kerja dengan membuat konsep, memilih media,
menciptakan ide atau gagasan, persiapan data dan perancangan, melakukan revisi,
final artwork, dan proses cetak, serta pembuatan sketsa, outline, dan pewarnaan
untuk ilustrasi. Setelah melalui proses perancangan tersebut, maka dihasilkan karya
desain sampul dan layout naskah novel “Villainess Life”.
