Perancangan Desain Sampul dan Tata Letak Naskah Novel "Retak"

A novel requires a useful design so that it can maintain the consistency of the novel's design. In making the novel "Retak", the author is responsible for making the cover design and content layout. This design aims to create consistency in the cover design and layout of the novel "Retak" which is able to describe the contents of the story so that it attracts readers to read it as well as to understand and create works that are able to apply the cover design and layout design methods according to Hendratman's theory. In addition, the author uses theory (Wibowo, 2015) regarding graphic design, theory (Sihombing, 2015) regarding typography, and theory (Anggraini A., 2021) regarding layout. The data collection technique used by the author in this design is literature review by reading books on design and layout, as well as conducting surveys to gather public opinions. In the cover design process, the author divided the workflow into pre-production, production, and post-production stages. As a result of this design, a novel with A5 size and a captivating cover design and layout was created. In conclusion, the author has successfully completed the design of the cover and layout for a 236-page novel.

Sebuah novel membutuhkan sebuah perancangan yang berguna sehingga bisa menjaga konsistensi desain novel. Dalam pembuatan novel “Retak”, penulis bertanggung jawab dalam pembuatan desain sampul dan tata letak isi. Perancangan ini bertujuan untuk membuat konsistensi dalam desain sampul dan tata letak naskah novel "Retak" yang mampu menggambarkan isi cerita sehingga menarik pembaca untuk membacanya serta untuk memahami dan menciptakan karya yang mampu menerapkan metode perancangan desain sampul dan tata letak sesuai dengan teori (Hendratman, 2014). Selain itu, penulis menggunakan teori (Wibowo, 2015) mengenai desain grafis, teori (Sihombing, 2015) mengenai tipografi, dan teori (Anggraini A. , 2021) mengenai tata letak. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan penulis dalam perancangan ini adalah studi pustaka dengan membaca buku mengenai desain dan tata letak dan survei. Dalam perancangan desain sampul penulis membagi langkah kerja dari tahap praproduksi, produksi, dan tahap pascaproduksi. Dari hasil perancangan tersebut, didapatkan novel berukuran A5 dengan desain sampul dan tata letak isi. Kesimpulannya penulis telah berhasil menyelesaikan perancangan desain sampul dan tata letak novel setebal 236 halaman.
