IDENTIFIKASI PERMASALAHAN JAHIT KAWAT SADDLE STITCHING PADA PROSES MENJILID BUKU PELAJARAN ASYIK MERDEKA: AKU SENANG REKREASI DI PT GELORA AKSARA PRATAMA

ABSTRACT

Binding is an advanced process of graphic printing. There are several binding techniques, one of which is the saddle stitching wire sewing technique. The purpose of writing this final project is to find out the processes and problems that occur during the post-printing process of saddle stitching wire sewing in producing the textbook Fun Merdeka: I'm Happy Recreation at PT Gelora Aksara Pratama, knowing the causes of the problems and the solutions. The methods used are observation, interviews and literature study. In the binding process, problems were found, such as the occurrence of paper jumpers in the feeder/gathering unit, there were sewing wires that did not come out in the binding process from the sewing head, there were double wires in the saddle stitching sewing process, there was paper that was not cut flat on the trimer/cutting unit as well as there is a book related to the strecker unit. As a result, there are textbooks that lack binding quality so that textbooks become damaged. The solution to this problem is to do the appropriate machine settings in each Primera A110 wire sewing machine unit.

ABSTRAK
Penjilidan merupakan proses lanjutan dari hasil cetak grafika. Terdapat beberapa teknik penjilidan, salah satunya adalah teknik jahit kawat saddle stitching. Tujuan penulisan tugas akhir ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses dan permasalahan yang terjadi selama proses pasca cetak jahit kawat saddle stitching dalam memproduksi buku pelajaran Asyik Merdeka: Aku Senang Rekreasi di PT Gelora Aksara Pratama, mengetahui penyebab permasalahan dan solusinya. Metode yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara dan studi pustaka. Pada proses jilidnya ditemukan permasalahan yaitu seperti terjadinya jumper kertas pada unit feeder/gathering, terdapat kawat jahit yang tidak keluar pada proses jilid dari kepala jahit, terdapat kawat yang double pada proses jahit saddle stitching, terdapat kertas yang tidak terpotong rata pada unit trimer/pemotongan serta terdapat buku yang menyangkut pada unit strecker. Akibatnya terdapat buku pelajaran yang kurang berkualitas penjilidannya sehingga buku pelajaran menjadi rusak. Solusi dari permasalahan tersebut adalah melakukan penyetelan mesin yang sesuai dalam setiap unit mesin jahit kawat Primera A110.
