PERAN PROGRAM DIRECTOR PADA PROGRAM TALK SHOW LIVE "TALK OF THE DAY", EPISODE: FRESH GRADUATE SYNDROME

The creation of a work entitled “Talk of The Day” started with the author's concern about the mental health problems of adolescents which are often taken for granted, to the extent that they lead to suicide. Because of this, the author will make a talk show program as his final work entitled "Talk of The Day" which addresses mental health problems that occur in adolescents. The purpose of writing this Final Project is to find out how the role of the Program director is in making a live television program entitled "Talk of The Day" starting from program planning in pre-production, during production for making material and during live on air, to during pre-production which contains evaluations. In writing this final assignment, the writer uses a descriptive method, namely by describing the facts and data that the writer found during the process of observation and literature study. A Program director (PD) must have knowledge of camera, lighting, audio, performance, and acting. Like producers, PDs must have a good sense of art and high work standards, because a PD in his career path can become a producer and executive producer (Rusman Latief 2017: 127). The author's role as Program director holds responsibility for making the television program "Talk of The Day" starting from the technical concept, delivery with pictures, and visual results.

Pembuatan karya berjudul “Talk of The Day” ini berawal dari kekhawatiran penulis terhadap permasalahan kesehatan mental anak remaja yang sering dianggap sepele, hingga sampai ada berujung pada bunuh diri. Karena hal tersebut penulis akan membuat program talk show sebagai karya tugas akhir dengan judul “Talk of The Day” yang mengakat permasalahan kesehatan mental yang terjadi pada remaja. Tujuan penulisan Tugas Akhir ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran Program director dalam mengemas program televisi siaran langsung berjudul “Talk of The Day” mulai dari perencanaan program di praproduksi, saat produksi pembuatan materi maupun saat Live on air, hingga saat praproduksi yang berisi evaluasi. Dalam penulisan Tugas Akhir ini, penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif yaitu dengan cara menguraikan fakta-fakta dan data yang penulis temukan pada saat proses observasi dan studi Pustaka. Seorang Program director (PD) harus memiliki pengetahuan tentang kamera, lighting, audio, performance, dan acting. Seperti juga produser, PD harus memiliki sense of art yang baik dan standar kerja yang tinggi, karena seorang PD dalam jenjang karier dapat menjadi seorang produser dan eksekutif produser (Rusman Latief 2017: 127). Peran penulis sebagai Program director memegang tanggung jawab terhadap pembuatan program televisi “Talk of The Day” mulai dari konsep teknis, penyampaian dengan gambar, serta hasil visualnya.
