Abstract

This thesis explores the development of adaptive AI in the 2D action platformer game "Keeping Up: The Journey" using Unity and the Finite State Machine (FSM) algorithm. Adaptive AI enhances player experience by tailoring challenges to player skills and increasing replayability. Adaptive AI improves engagement by adjusting difficulty based on player performance. This study uses Unity and FSM to create dynamic, responsive AI that reacts to player actions in an immersive way. The implementation addresses issues like monotonous enemy interactions and predictable movements by developing AI that adapts to player actions. This research provides valuable insights for game developers, enhancing the creation of engaging and challenging 2D action platformer games. The findings benefit academia, researchers, developers, and players by offering a richer gaming experience through adaptive enemy behavior

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengembangan AI adaptif dalam game 2D action platformer "Keeping Up: The Journey" menggunakan Unity dan algoritma Finite State Machine (FSM). AI adaptif meningkatkan pengalaman bermain dengan menyesuaikan tantangan sesuai keterampilan pemain dan meningkatkan replayability. AI adaptif meningkatkan keterlibatan pemain dengan menyesuaikan tingkat kesulitan berdasarkan kinerja pemain. Penelitian ini menggunakan Unity dan FSM untuk menciptakan AI yang dinamis dan responsif yang bereaksi terhadap tindakan pemain dengan cara yang imersif. Implementasi ini mengatasi masalah interaksi musuh yang monoton dan gerakan yang dapat diprediksi dengan mengembangkan AI yang merespons tindakan pemain. Penelitian ini menawarkan wawasan berharga bagi pengembang game, meningkatkan pembuatan game 2D action platformer yang menarik dan menantang. Temuan ini bermanfaat bagi akademisi, peneliti, pengembang, dan pemain dengan menyediakan pengalaman bermain yang lebih kaya melalui perilaku musuh yang adaptif.
