Abstract

The purpose of this research is to rebuild a retro game with modern mechanical improvements. In developing the game, the author uses the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) method to facilitate a structured game development process. This method was chosen over others like MDLC because GDLC is more efficient from the development stage to game testing. The GDLC method was selected due to its ease of understanding and support in game maintenance. The casual genre game "Ball Run" was developed by adding features not present in the previous version. Improvements include adjustments to the main camera perspective, the addition of dash features, and dodge features, aiming to create a more modern gameplay experience without losing the nostalgic feel. Based on the production results and various tests at each stage, the features and improvements implemented in the game "Ball Run" were deemed successful. This is also supported by testing data showing an 81% satisfaction rate and positive, constructive feedback from the public regarding game maintenance.

Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk membangun ulang sebuah game retro dengan improvisasi mekanik lebih modern didalam game. Dalam membangun game, penulis menggunakan metode GDLC (Game Development Life Cycle) untuk membantu proses pengerjaan game secara terstruktur. Metode ini dipilih dibandingkan metode lain seperti MDLC, sebab metode GDLC lebih efisien dari tahap pengerjaan hingga pengujian game. Metode GDLC digunakan dengan alas an metodenya mudah dipahami dan menunjang dalam pemeliharaan game. Game Ball Run dengan genre casual dibangun dengan mengembangkan fitur yang belum ada di versi sebelumnya. Improvisasi yang dibangun dari segi sudut pandang kamera utama, fitur dash, serta fitur dodge yang dibuat untuk menciptakan pengalaman bermain yang lebih modern tetapi tidak meninggalkan kesan bernostalgia. Berdasarkan hasil produksi dan berbagai pengujian disetiap tahap, fitur-fitur dan improvisasi yang diterapkan pada game Ball Run dikatakan berhasil. Hal ini didukung pula dengan data hasil testing yang dilakukan mendapat 81% persentase kepuasan serta respon dari publik yang bersifat positif dan membangun dalam pemeliharaan game.
