Abstract
The educational game ReNew Earth adopts a semi-open world concept that requires a
large number of visual assets, potentially reducing rendering performance. The use of
a stylized low-poly art style alone is insufficient to maintain performance when
rendering numerous objects simultaneously. This study aims to design a visual asset
optimization system using Texture Atlasing, Level of Detail (LOD), and Impostor
Rendering techniques. The research employed the Game Development Life Cycle
(GDLC) methodology and used a descriptive quantitative approach for evaluation
through Unity Profiler, Rendering Statistics, and questionnaires. The results show that
the proposed system successfully produced stylized low-poly visual assets integrated
with LOD and impostor rendering. The implementation reduced geometric complexity
from 2,400,000 triangles to 8,900 triangles while maintaining a stable performance of
over 90 FPS. Evaluation involving 32 respondents achieved a visual feasibility score
of 90.55%, categorized as Highly Feasible. However, the billboard-based impostor
implementation was unable to fully utilize GPU Instancing, limiting the expected frame
rate improvement. Overall, the proposed system effectively improved rendering
efficiency while maintaining the visual quality of the educational game.
Game edukasi ReNew Earth mengusung konsep semi-open world yang membutuhkan
banyak aset visual sehingga berpotensi menurunkan performa saat proses rendering.
Penggunaan aset bergaya stylized low-poly saja belum cukup untuk menjaga performa
ketika objek ditampilkan dalam jumlah besar. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang
sistem optimalisasi aset visual menggunakan teknik Texture Atlasing, Level of Detail
(LOD), dan Impostor Rendering. Penelitian menggunakan metode Game Development
Life Cycle (GDLC) dengan pengujian kuantitatif deskriptif melalui Unity Profiler,
Rendering Statistics, dan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem yang
dirancang berhasil menghasilkan aset visual bergaya stylized low-poly yang
terintegrasi dengan LOD dan impostor. Implementasi teknik tersebut menurunkan
kompleksitas geometri dari 2.400.000 tris menjadi 8.900 tris dengan performa
permainan tetap stabil di atas 90 FPS. Pengujian terhadap 32 responden memperoleh
nilai kelayakan visual sebesar 90,55% dengan kategori Sangat Layak. Meskipun
demikian, penggunaan impostor berbasis billboard belum mampu memanfaatkan GPU
Instancing secara optimal sehingga peningkatan framerate belum mencapai hasil yang
diharapkan. Secara keseluruhan, sistem yang dirancang efektif meningkatkan efisiensi
rendering tanpa mengurangi kualitas visual secara signifikan.
