UJI FUNGSI DAN EFEKTIVITAS LILIN AROMATERAPI CANDLEBLISS BERBAHAN MINYAK JELANTAH SEBAGAI AMENITIES HOTEL PENGUSIR NYAMUK

ABSTRACT

This study aims to evaluate the functionality and efficacy of Candlebliss, an aromatherapy candle crafted from waste cooking oil (WCO) purified with bleaching earth, designed as an mosquito repellent hotel amenity. The product was formulated using a mixture of palm wax and purified WCO in a 2:1 ratio, infused with lime peel and citronella essential oils. The research employed a descriptive quantitative experimental approach, utilizing observations, expert judgments from three specialists, relaxation perception tests with seven respondents, and room tests to assess repellenc effectiveness. The results indicated that all indicators fell within the excellent category, with a total burning duration of ±20 hours. Expert judgments confirmed that the product is highly viable for practical use. The relaxation perception test yielded a mean score of 4,42, indicating a positive relaxation effect. Furthermore, the room test demonstrated that 82.3% of mosquitoes experienced disorientation. In conclusion, Candlebliss is highly viable as a hotel amenity, serving effectively as both a relaxing aromatherapy agent and a natural, sustainability-based insect repellent. ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji fungsi dan efektivitas lilin aromaterapi Candlebliss berbahan minyak jelantah yang dijernihkan dengan bleaching earth sebagai amenities hotel pengusir nyamuk. Produk diformulasikan menggunakan campuran palm wax dan minyak jelantah (2:1) dengan essential oil kulit jeruk nipis dan serai wangi. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif eksperimen melalui observasi, expert judgement tiga ahli, uji persepsi relaksasi pada tujuh responden, dan room test efektivitas pengusir nyamuk. Hasil menunjukkan seluruh indikator berada pada kategori sangat baik dengan durasi pembakaran ±20 jam. Expert judgement menyatakan produk layak digunakan. Uji persepsi relaksasi menghasilkan skor rata-rata 4,42 yang menunjukkan efek relaksasi positif. Room test menunjukkan 82,3% nyamuk mengalami disorientasi. Candlebliss disimpulkan layak sebagai amenities hotel yang efektif sebagai aromaterapi relaksasi sekaligus repellent alami berbasis keberlanjutan.
