EKSPLORASI LIMBAH BENANG BUSANA WANITA JAPANESE STREETWEAR TEKNIK CONFETTI QUILTING PADA BRAND THE NEW FACTORY STUDIO ( TNFS )

TNFS is a sustainable fashion brand that utilizes textile waste as part of its product identity. However, yarn waste generated during the production process has not been optimally utilized, limiting its potential to add value to product development. This study aims to explore yarn waste as a textile material in the design of women's Japanese streetwear and to produce design alternatives for the development of TNFS products. The research employed the Hasso Plattner Design Thinking model, consisting of the empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test stages. Data were collected through observation, literature review, benchmarking, interviews, and questionnaires. The exploration process involved experiments in arranging yarn waste, the use of base fabric and interfacing, and the application of Richpeace software for the nesting process to improve material efficiency. The study resulted in 30 alternative designs, from which five final designs were selected. The findings indicate that the exploration of yarn waste can produce textile materials with distinctive visual characteristics, support the principles of sustainability, and strengthen the application of the Japanese streetwear concept in women's apparel for TNFS.

TNFS merupakan brand sustainable fashion yang memanfaatkan limbah tekstil sebagai bagian dari identitas produknya. Namun, limbah benang hasil proses produksi belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal sehingga belum memberikan nilai tambah dalam pengembangan produk. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi limbah benang sebagai material tekstil pada perancangan busana wanita bergaya Japanese streetwear serta menghasilkan rancangan sebagai pengembangan produk TNFS. Metode yang digunakan adalah Design Thinking model Hasso Plattner dengan tahapan empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, studi literatur, benchmarking, wawancara, dan kuesioner. Proses eksplorasi dilakukan melalui eksperimen penyusunan limbah benang, penggunaan kain dasar dan interfacing, serta pemanfaatan aplikasi Richpeace untuk proses nesting guna meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan bahan. Hasil penelitian menghasilkan 30 alternatif desain dan lima desain terpilih yang menunjukkan bahwa eksplorasi limbah benang mampu menghasilkan material dengan karakter visual yang unik, mendukung prinsip keberlanjutan, serta memperkuat penerapan konsep Japanese streetwear pada busana wanita untuk TNFS.
