PERAN SINEMATOGRAFER DALAM MENERAPKAN TEKNIK DISTORSI VISUAL UNTUK MEMBANGUN KETEGANGAN PADA FILM PENDEK “DOSA TAK BERTUAN”

ABSTRACT
The film industry utilizes cinematography to convey emotional experiences through various cinematographic decisions. The fiction film Dosa Tak Bertuan employs camera distortion techniques as a cinematographic approach to represent tension throughout the film. This creative project aims to analyze the role of the camera operator in applying camera distortion techniques to influence the audience's visual perception, thereby evoking a psychological response in the form of tension. The creative process was carried out in three stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. The pre-production stage involved script analysis and the development of the cinematographic concept; the production stage focused on the application of camera distortion through the use of lenses, perspective, spatial relationships, composition, and camera positioning; while the post-production stage consisted of evaluating the visual outcomes to ensure consistency with the established cinematographic concept. The results demonstrate that camera distortion techniques were successfully implemented through a series of cinematographic decisions that evolved alongside the progression of the protagonist Maya's conflict. These techniques were realized through the use of wide-angle lenses, changes in perspective, manipulation of spatial relationships, composition, camera positioning, and the application of slow shutter effects in selected scenes, all of which gradually intensified the audience's visual experience in accordance with the development of the narrative conflict. Therefore, camera distortion techniques effectively represent tension while supporting the delivery of the narrative through cinematographic language.

Industri film memanfaatkan sinematografi untuk menyampaikan pengalaman emosional melalui berbagai keputusan sinematografi. Film fiksi “Dosa Tak Bertuan” menerapkan teknik distorsi visual sebagai pendekatan sinematografi untuk merepresentasikannya di dalam film tersebut. Pekaryaan ini bertujuan menganalisis peran sinematografer dalam menerapkan teknik distorsi visual untuk memengaruhi respons visual pada penonton sehingga memunculkan respons psikologis berupa ketegangan. Metode pekaryaan dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu praproduksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi. Tahap praproduksi meliputi analisis skenario dan perancangan konsep sinematografi, tahap produksi berfokus pada penerapan distorsi visual melalui penggunaan lensa, perspektif, hubungan ruang, komposisi, dan posisi kamera, dan tahap pascaproduksi dilakukan evaluasi hasil visual untuk menjaga konsistensi konsep sinematografi. Hasil pekaryaan menunjukkan bahwa teknik distorsi visual berhasil diterapkan melalui serangkaian keputusan sinematografi yang berkembang mengikuti situasi konflik tokoh Maya. Penerapan tersebut ditunjukkan melalui penggunaan lensa wide, perubahan perspektif, pengolahan hubungan ruang, komposisi, posisi kamera, serta penerapan slow shutter pada adegan tertentu yang secara bertahap meningkatkan intensitas pengalaman visual penonton sesuai dengan perkembangan konflik cerita. Dengan demikian, teknik distorsi visual mampu membangun tokoh sekaligus mendukung penyampaian narasi melalui bahasa sinematografi.
