Pendekatan Isolation Dalam Sinematografi Untuk Membangun Emosi Visual Pad Film “Pak, Aku Sendirian”

Visual language in cinematography plays an important role in conveying a character’s emotions and psychological state without relying solely on dialogue. One approach that can be employed is isolation, a visual approach that utilizes composition, spatial arrangement, and camera movement to represent loneliness, feelings of isolation, and emotional distance between characters. This creative work aims to apply the isolation approach in cinematography to build visual emotion in the short film Pak, Aku Sendirian. The study employs a creative practice method consisting of pre-production, production, and post-production stages. The isolation approach is realized through the application of negative space, frame within a frame, camera distance, particularly the wide shot, and camera movement, specifically the track-out technique. The results demonstrate that the implementation of these cinematographic elements effectively strengthens the visual representation of loneliness, loss, and feelings of isolation experienced by the characters, enabling visual emotions to be conveyed effectively to the audience. The management of space, composition, camera distance, and camera movement functions as a visual language that supports the characters’ dramatic development while reinforcing the film’s narrative. Therefore, the isolation approach can serve as an effective visual strategy for cinematographers in creating an emotional experience foraudiences through cinematography.

Bahasa visual dalam sinematografi memiliki peran penting dalam menyampaikan emosi dan kondisi psikologis tokoh tanpa bergantung sepenuhnya pada dialog. Salah satu pendekatan yang dapat digunakan adalah isolation, yaitu pendekatan visual yang memanfaatkan komposisi, ruang, dan pergerakan kamera untuk merepresentasikan kesendirian, perasaan terisolasi, serta jarak emosional karakter. Penciptaan karya ini bertujuan menerapkan pendekatan isolation dalam sinematografi untuk membangun emosi visual pada film pendek “Pak, Aku Sendirian”. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penciptaan karya yang meliputi tahapan praproduksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi. Pendekatan isolation diwujudkan melalui penerapan negative space, frame within a frame, camera distance khususnya wide shot, serta camera movement salah satunya track out. Hasil penciptaan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan elemen-elemen tersebut mampu memperkuat representasi kesendirian, kehilangan, dan perasaan terisolasi tokoh sehingga emosi visual dapat tersampaikan secara efektif kepada penonton. Pengelolaan ruang, komposisi, jarak kamera, dan pergerakan kamera menjadi bahasa visual yang mendukung perkembangan dramatik karakter sekaligus memperkuat narasi film. Dengan demikian, pendekatan isolation dapat menjadi salah satu strategi visual bagi sinematografer dalam membangun pengalaman emosional penonton melalui sinematografi.
