PENGELOLAAN PAKAIAN BEKAS TIDAK LAYAK PAKAI DENGAN TEKNIK PATCHWORK DAN QUILTING SEBAGAI BUSANA SIAP PAKAI ( STUDI KASUS : ORGANISASI SADARI SEDARI)

The fashion industry is one of the world's largest sources of waste, one of the
factors supporting this phenomenon is the growth of fast fashion. In Indonesia,
there is one organization that helps overcome environmental problems affected
by the waste of the fashion industry, namely Sadari Sedari. According to the
qualitative data collection method that the author obtained through interviews
with the founders of Sadari Sedari, the total amount of used clothes that Sadari
Sedari has obtained in the last 6 months is 7 tons, 20% - 30% of clothes need to
be recycled. Many techniques can be used to process old clothes that are no longer
suitable for use, one of which is patchwork and quilting techniques. This study
uses a research approach with the design thinking method. This method serves to
plan alternative solutions that are efficient and effective to solve a problem. The
approach to designing a problem solution is divided into 5 stages, namely:
Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Evaluation. The purpose of this
research is to manage used clothing that is not suitable for use into ready-to-wear
clothing with patchwork and quilting techniques and to attract public interest in
ready-to-wear clothing inspired by the characteristics of Sadari Sedari by using
used clothes that are not suitable for use.

Industri fashion adalah salah satu sumber sampah terbesar dunia), salah satu faktor
pendukung fenomena ini ialah pertumbuhan fast fashion. Di Indonesia, ada salah
satu organisasi yang membantu mengatasi masalah lingkungan yang terkena
dampak dari limbah industri fashion, yaitu Sadari Sedari. Menurut metode
pengumpulan data kualitatif yang penulis peroleh melalui wawancara dengan
pendiri Sadari Sedari, jumlah total pakaian bekas yang diperoleh Sadari Sedari
dalam 6 bulan terakhir sebanyak 7 ton, 20% - 30% pakaian perlu didaur ulang. Ada
banyak teknik yang bisa digunakan untuk mengolah pakaian lama yang sudah tidak
layak pakai, salah satunya teknik patchwork dan quilting. Penelitian ini
menggunakan pendekatan penelitian dengan motode design thinking. Metode ini
berfungsi untuk merencanakan solusi alternatif yang efisien dan efektif untuk
menyelesaikan suatu permasalahan. Pendekatan untuk merancang solusi masalah
dibagi menjadi 5 tahap, yaitu : Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Evaluation.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah mengelola pakaian bekas tidak layak pakai menjadi
busana siap pakai dengan teknik patchwork dan quilting serta menarik minat
masyarakat terhadap busana siap pakai yang terinspirasi dari karakteristik Sadari
Sedari dengan menggunakan pakaian bekas tidak layak pakai.
