Abstract
ABSTRAK
This study aims to define objective and data-driven quality standards related to
Optical Density (OD) and Lightness levels of rotogravure films. Monitoring these
parameters is crucial to maintaining consistency in print quality, color accuracy,
and visual appeal of the final product. Lightness level is often closely related to the
way the film looks, including the level of brightness that can affect the appearance
of luster. Although detailed data on glossiness was not directly analyzed in this
study, the same approach is still useful and can be used to determine glossiness
standards, which is also an important visual element in rotogravure films. Lightness

rotogravure films. The analysis results show that for Optical Density, the average
value obtained is 0. 3278 with a standard deviation of 0. 00964. The specified
quality tolerance limits are 0. 30852 Lower Tolerance Limit (LTL) and 0. 34708
Upper Tolerance Limit (UTL). As for Glossiness, the average recorded was 11.
4488 with a standard deviation of 0. 902279, resulting in tolerance quality limits of
9. 644242 (LTL) and 13. 253358 (UTL).

Studi ini bertujuan untuk menentukan standar kualitas yang objektif dan berbasis
data terkait dengan Optical Density (OD) serta tingkat Lightness pada film
rotogravure. Memantau parameter-parameter ini sangat krusial untuk
mempertahankan konsistensi dalam kualitas cetakan, keakuratan warna, serta daya
tarik visual produk akhir. Tingkat Lightness sering kali berhubungan erat dengan
cara film itu terlihat, termasuk tingkat kecerahan yang dapat mempengaruhi
penampilan kilau. Meskipun data rinci mengenai glossiness tidak dianalisis secara
langsung dalam kajian ini, pendekatan yang sama tetap bermanfaat dan dapat
digunakan untuk menentukan standar glossiness, yang juga merupakan elemen
visual penting dalam film rotogravure. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa untuk
Optical Density, nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh adalah 0. 3278 dengan standar
deviasi 0. 00964. Batas toleransi mutu yang ditentukan adalah 0. 30852 Lower
Tolerance Limit (LTL) dan 0. 34708 Upper Tolerance Limit (UTL). Sedangkan
untuk Glossiness, rata-rata yang tercatat adalah 11. 4488 dengan standar deviasi 0.
