Perancangan Desain Sampul Novelet “Langkah Kecil Rara”

The cover design for the novelette "Langkah Kecil Rara" was motivated by the persistent lack of visual representation of independent women-themed book covers. This design aimed to produce a cover that captured the theme of independent women through the combination of illustration, color, typography, and visual composition. The method used was based on the graphic design stages according to Hendratman (2017): gathering needed information, seeking creative ideas, creating a framework, data processing, visualization, and production. The design process began with literature review and observation, followed by developing a visual concept, sketching, digital illustration, and compiling design elements, leading to the finalization stage. The resulting cover design consists of a front cover, spine, and back cover, featuring digital illustrations, colors that complement the story's atmosphere, and communicative typography. The resulting design effectively represents the story's content and the theme of independent women, thus supporting the cover's function as a visual identity and communication medium for potential readers.

Perancangan sampul novelet Langkah Kecil Rara dilatarbelakangi oleh masih ditemukannya sampul buku bertema independent women yang belum mampu merepresentasikan isi cerita secara visual. Perancangan ini bertujuan menghasilkan desain sampul yang mampu menggambarkan tema independent women melalui pengolahan ilustrasi, warna, tipografi, dan komposisi visual. Metode yang digunakan mengacu pada tahapan perancangan desain grafis menurut Hendratman (2017), yaitu mencari informasi kebutuhan, mencari ide kreatif, membuat kerangka kerja, olah data, visualisasi, dan produksi. Proses perancangan diawali dengan studi pustaka dan observasi, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penyusunan konsep visual, pembuatan sketsa, ilustrasi digital, serta penyusunan elemen desain hingga tahap finalisasi. Hasil perancangan berupa desain sampul yang terdiri atas sampul depan, punggung buku, dan sampul belakang dengan ilustrasi digital, warna yang mendukung suasana cerita, serta tipografi yang komunikatif. Desain yang dihasilkan mampu merepresentasikan isi cerita dan tema independent women sehingga mendukung fungsi sampul sebagai identitas visual dan media komunikasi kepada calon pembaca.
