PERAN PENATA KAMERA DALAM PENERAPAN TEKNIK HANDHELD PROGRAM DOKUMENTER SELARAS JAGAT

ABSTRAK
This final project examines the role of the cinematographer in the application
of handheld techniques in the documentary series *Selaras Jagat*,
specifically in the episode “The Magic of the Coastal Hands.” This study
aims to analyze the use of handheld techniques to create realistic, dynamic
visuals and foster an emotional connection with the shellfish-peeling
activities in Muara Angke. The production utilized two Sony A7S III cameras
equipped with Sony FE 24–70mm F2.8 GM II and Sony FE 16–35mm F2.8
GM II lenses. The production phases included pre-production, production,
and post-production. The results of the study show that handheld techniques
can produce authentic and communicative visuals despite the challenges
posed by the dynamic and slippery conditions at the location. Through sound
technical planning and effective team coordination, visual quality was
maintained. This study is expected to serve as a reference for
cinematographers in the application of handheld techniques in documentary
production.

Tugas akhir ini membahas peran penata kamera dalam penerapan teknik
handheld pada program dokumenter Selaras Jagat episode "Keajaiban
Tangan Pesisir". Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penerapan teknik
handheld untuk menghasilkan visual yang realistis, dinamis, dan membangun
kedekatan emosional dengan aktivitas pengupas kerang di Muara Angke.
Produksi menggunakan dua kamera Sony A7S III dengan lensa Sony FE 24–
70mm F2.8 GM II dan Sony FE 16–35mm F2.8 GM II. Tahapan produksi
meliputi pra-produksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa teknik handheld mampu menghasilkan visual yang
autentik dan komunikatif meskipun terdapat kendala kondisi lokasi yang
dinamis dan licin. Melalui perencanaan teknis dan koordinasi tim yang baik,
kualitas visual tetap terjaga. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi referensi bagi
penata kamera dalam penerapan teknik handheld pada produksi dokumenter.
