PENERAPAN TAHAPAN EDITING DALAM PROGRAM TALKSHOW THE GLOW UP

ABSTRACT
The production of a television talk show requires a systematic editing process to produce a structured program with clear visual continuity and effective message delivery. The problems addressed in this final project are the challenges faced by the editor in applying each editing stage, including footage selection, story arrangement, visual continuity, and the refinement of visual and audio elements during the post-production process of the talk show program The Glow Up. This study aims to describe the implementation of editing stages in producing a television talk show that is structured, visually consistent, and aligned with the program concept. The study applies the editing theory of Bowen and Thompson (2018), the editor role theory by Bordwell and Thompson as cited in Khairani and Hadiyanto (2025), and the television talk show concept. The editor's responsibilities were carried out through the pre-production, production, and post-production stages. The findings indicate that the implementation of the offline editing stages, consisting of review and selection, assembly, rough cut, fine cut, picture lock, and finishing online editing, including color correction, lower thirds, Video Tape (VT), Opening Bumper Break (OBB), bumper in/out, freeze frame, sound effects, and finishing, successfully produced a television program with a structured storyline, consistent visual identity, balanced audio-visual quality, and a presentation that effectively conveyed the program's messages to the audience.

Produksi program talkshow televisi memerlukan proses editing yang dilakukan secara sistematis agar menghasilkan tayangan yang terstruktur, memiliki kesinambungan visual, serta mampu menyampaikan pesan secara efektif kepada penonton. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam tugas akhir ini adalah kendala yang dihadapi editor dalam menerapkan setiap tahapan editing, mulai dari proses pemilihan footage , penyusunan alur cerita, menjaga kesinambungan visual, hingga penyempurnaan elemen visual dan audio pada proses pascaproduksi Program Talkshow The Glow Up. Tujuan penulisan ini adalah menjelaskan penerapan tahapan editing dalam menghasilkan program talkshow yang memiliki alur pembahasan yang runtut, kualitas visual yang konsisten, dan sesuai dengan konsep program. Penulisan ini menggunakan teori tahapan editing dari Bowen dan Thompson (2018), teori editor dari Bordwell dan Thompson dalam Khairani dan Hadiyanto (2025), serta konsep program talkshow. Tahapan kerja editor meliputi pra produksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan tahapan offline editing yang terdiri atas review and selection, assembly, rough cut, fine cut, picture lock, dan finishing, serta online editing melalui color correction, pembuatan lower third, Video Tape (VT), Opening Bumper Break (OBB), bumper in/out, freeze frame, penambahan sound effect, dan finishing mampu menghasilkan tayangan yang memiliki alur pembahasan yang runtut, kesinambungan visual yang baik, identitas visual yang konsisten, kualitas audio dan visual yang sesuai dengan konsep Program Talkshow The Glow Up, serta lebih mudah dipahami oleh audiens.
