PERANCANGAN DESAIN SAMPUL DAN TATA LETAK PADA NASKAH BUKU NOVELET “ALAIR”

Graphic design is a form of visual communication in which each process uses
images/photos, text, space, colors, and other elements to convey information or
messages as effectively as possible. Over time, the style of cover design continues
to change which requires us as designers to be able to follow current trends. The
purpose of this final project is to be able to explain how to design the cover design
and layout/layout in the novel book manuscript "Alair". In writing this final project,
the author formulated the problem, namely how to design a good and attractive
cover design and layout/layout in the novelette book manuscript "Alair" which can
be solved with graphic design theory, book anatomy, book cover, illustrations, and
layout. The writing method used by the author is a survey and also a literature
study. In the discussion, the author describes the pre-production, production, and
post-production stages. In the preproduction stage, the author plans the concept,
determines the media, and determines the idea/idea. At the production stage, the
author began to prepare data, design, revise, and final artwork. In the post
production stage, the author only conducts the production stage to determine the
type of paper used for the cover and contents of the novelet "Alair". The results of
this final project are manifested in the form of designing the cover design and layout
of the novelette book "Alair" which is ready to print because the steps are
appropriate and well structured.

Desain grafis adalah suatu bentuk dalam komunikasi visual yang setiap prosesnya
menggunakan gambar/foto, teks, ruang, warna, dan elemen lainnya untuk
menyampaikan informasi atau pesan seefektif mungkin. Seiring berjalannya waktu
gaya pada desain sampul terus berubah yang mengharuskan kita sebagai desainer
harus bisa mengikuti tren saat ini. Tujuan dari tugas akhir ini adalah agar dapat
menjelaskan bagaimana proses perancangan desain sampul dan tata letak/layout
pada naskah buku novelet “Alair”. Dalam penulisan tugas akhir ini penulis
merumuskan masalah, yaitu bagaimana proses perancangan desain sampul dan tata
letak/layout yang baik dan menarik pada naskah buku novelet “Alair” yang dapat
diselesaikan dengan teori desain grafis, anatomi buku, sampul buku, ilustrasi, dan
tata letak. Metode penulisan yang penulis gunakan adalah survei dan juga studi
pustaka. Pada pembahasan, penulis menjabarkan tahap praproduksi, produksi, dan
pascaproduksi. Pada tahap praproduksi penulis melakukan perencanaan konsep,
menentukan media, dan menentukan ide/gagasan. Pada tahap produksi, penulis
mulai melakukan persiapan data, perancangan, revisi, dan final artwork. Pada tahap
pascaproduksi, penulis hanya melakukan tahap produksi untuk menentukan jenis
kertas yang digunakan untuk sampul dan isi buku novelet “Alair”. Hasil dari tugas
akhir ini diwujudkan dalam bentuk perancangan desain sampul dan tata letak pada
naskah buku novelet “Alair” yang sudah siap cetak karena langkah-langkahnya
yang sudah sesuai dan terstruktur dengan baik.
