PERAN PENGARAH PROGRAM DALAM METODE ACTION VERB PADA PROGRAM DRAMA THURSDAY

The development of the broadcasting industry highlights challenges in the
form of the result directing phenomenon, which frequently leads to rigid and
artificial acting performances. To address this issue, this final project aims
to determine the role of the Program Director in applying the action verb
method to stimulate organic actor responses in the production of a
supernatural drama series titled "Thursday". The methods employed include
digital observation, literature study, in-depth interviews, and online
questionnaires. Grounded in broadcasting media management theory and the
framework of action-verb-based direction, the entire workflow of the
Program Director is analyzed across three main phases: pre-production
(script breakdown, director treatment, recce, photoboard, and casting),
production (applying the action verb method from scenes 1 to 22), and post-
production (preview and quality control). The results demonstrate that the
implementation of the action verb method successfully overcomes result
directing, optimizes communication between the director and actors, and
maintains emotional continuity throughout the production process.

Perkembangan industri penyiaran memunculkan tantangan berupa fenomena
result directing yang sering kali menghasilkan performa akting aktor yang
kaku dan artifisial. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, penulisan tugas akhir
ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran Pengarah Program dalam menerapkan
metode action verb guna memicu respons organik aktor pada produksi serial
drama supranatural berjudul "Thursday". Metode yang digunakan meliputi
observasi digital, studi pustaka, wawancara mendalam, serta penyebaran
kuesioner daring. Berlandaskan pada teori manajemen media penyiaran dan
landasan penyutradaraan berbasis kata kerja aksi, seluruh tahapan kerja
Pengarah Program dibedah ke dalam tiga fase utama: pra-produksi (script
breakdown, director treatment, recce, photoboard, dan casting), produksi
(penerapan metode action verb pada scene 1 hingga 22), serta pasca-produksi
(preview dan quality control). Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan bahwa
penerapan metode action verb berhasil mengatasi result directing,
mengoptimalkan komunikasi antara sutradara dan aktor, sekaligus menjaga
kontinuitas dinamika emosi sepanjang proses produksi.
