PERANCANGAN DESAIN SAMPUL DAN TATA LETAK NOVELET BERTAJUK “HELM KEDUA”

Desain sampul dan tata letak isi buku merupakan unsur penting dalam penerbitan yang berperan membangun identitas visual serta meningkatkan kenyamanan membaca. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan merancang desain sampul dan tata letak isi novelet “Helm Kedua” melalui penerapan ilustrasi, warna, tipografi, dan tata letak sehingga menghasilkan kesatuan visual yang mampu merepresentasikan isi cerita. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan studi pustaka. Proses perancangan mengacu pada tahapan desain grafis Khotimah, yaitu konsep, media, ide atau gagasan, persiapan data, visualisasi, dan produksi. Hasil perancangan berupa desain sampul depan, punggung buku, sampul belakang, serta tata letak isi yang menerapkan margin, tipografi, ilustrasi pembuka bab, dan komposisi halaman secara konsisten. Perancangan menghasilkan kesatuan visual antara sampul dan isi buku sehingga mampu mendukung penyampaian cerita serta memberikan kenyamanan membaca.

Cover design and interior layout are crucial elements in publishing that help establish a visual identity and enhance the reading experience. This final project aims to design the cover and interior layout of the novella *Helm Kedua* through the application of illustrations, color, typography, and layout to create a cohesive visual whole that effectively represents the story’s content. Data collection was conducted through a literature review. The design process followed Khotimah’s stages of graphic design: concept, media, ideas, data preparation, visualization, and production. The design results consist of the front cover, book spine, back cover, and interior layout, which consistently apply margins, typography, chapter opening illustrations, and page composition. The design creates visual unity between the cover and the book’s content, thereby supporting the storytelling and providing a comfortable reading experience
