PENERAPAN TALKING HEAD UNTUK MEMBANGUN UNSUR DRAMATIS OLEH PROGRAM DIRECTOR PADA PROGRAM REALITY SHOW “SUKSES GAK SIH?”

ABSTRAK
Reality shows with a fly-on-the-wall approach present events naturally by
minimizing intervention from the production crew and relying on the spontaneity of
the talent. However, the natural flow of events often makes it difficult for viewers to
fully understand the emotions, motivations, and perspectives of the talent, which
can reduce the dramatic impact of the story. This study aims to analyze the
application of the talking head technique in building dramatic elements in the
reality show Sukses Gak Sih?. The study employs a qualitative approach through
direct observation during the pre-production, production, and post-production
stages, with the author serving as the Program Director. The findings indicate that
the implementation of the talking head technique strengthens storytelling by
presenting the talent’s emotions, personal experiences, and perspectives, thereby
increasing audience engagement and supporting the development of dramatic
elements. The conclusion of this study is that the talking head technique serves as
an effective directing strategy for enriching narrative quality and strengthening
dramatic elements in reality television programs.

Program reality show dengan pendekatan fly on the wall menampilkan berbagai
peristiwa secara alami dengan minim intervensi dari kru produksi sehingga
mengandalkan spontanitas talent dalam setiap adegan. Namun, penyajian yang
hanya mengandalkan observasi sering kali belum mampu menggambarkan emosi,
motivasi, dan sudut pandang talent secara mendalam sehingga unsur dramatis
dalam cerita menjadi kurang optimal. Penulisan tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk
menganalisis penerapan teknik talking head dalam membangun unsur dramatis
pada program reality show Sukses Gak Sih?. Metode yang digunakan adalah
pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi langsung selama tahapan pra produksi,
produksi, dan pasca produksi dengan penulis berperan sebagai Program Director.
Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik talking head mampu
memperkuat penyampaian alur cerita melalui pengungkapan emosi, pengalaman,
dan sudut pandang talent sehingga meningkatkan keterlibatan emosional penonton
serta mendukung terbentuknya unsur dramatis dalam program. Simpulan dari
penulisan ini adalah bahwa teknik talking head merupakan strategi
penyutradaraan yang efektif dalam memperkuat kualitas narasi serta membangun
unsur dramatis pada program reality show.
