Abstract
The novel Cita, Cinta, Cerita Deva is a work spanning the Young Adult, Teen Romance, and Coming-of-Age genres; it chronicles Deva’s journey as he navigates loneliness, friendship, his aspirations, and his feelings for Alea. This work was produced as a final project focusing on the manuscript editing process. The objective of the project was to describe the manuscript editing procedure. The study draws upon theories regarding manuscript editing, types of linguistic errors, basic editing activities, and the nature of fiction and novelettes. A literature review methodology was employed, encompassing the stages of pre-editing, editing, and post-editing. The editing results reveal 60 basic editing actions, comprising 10 validations, 14 deletions, 10 additions, 11 repositionings, 10 substitutions, and instances of blending. Through the editing process, the manuscript became more effective, communicative, and consistent, while also aligning with Indonesian language standards, thereby making the story easier for readers to understand.
