Abstract
ABSTRAK
Ekstrusi laminasi adalah proses yang diterapkan pada material teknik berupa termoplastik atau polimer. Prinsip kerjanya mirip dengan ekstrusi logam, namun berbeda pada konstruksi mesinnya, di mana penggunaan ram digantikan oleh screw. Problem hottac merupakan salah satu gangguan yang sering terjadi pada proses extrusion laminasi dan dapat memengaruhi kualitas hasil laminasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penyebab terjadinya hottac, mengetahui dampaknya terhadap kualitas produk, serta menentukan solusi troubleshooting yang tepat pada mesin extrusion laminasi di PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk Divisi Flexible Packaging. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi langsung di area produksi, wawancara dengan operator mesin, serta studi pustaka yang relevan. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan 5W+1H untuk mengidentifikasi akar permasalahan berdasarkan faktor man, machine, method, material, dan environment. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hottac terjadi akibat penyumbatan pada screen changer yang menyebabkan peningkatan melt pressure dari kondisi normal sekitar 60 kgf menjadi 80–90 kgf. Kondisi tersebut menghambat aliran resin EAA dan berpotensi menyebabkan degradasi material sehingga menurunkan kualitas daya rekat laminasi. Hasil pengujian sealing strength menunjukkan bahwa nilai kekuatan rekat optimum diperoleh pada suhu 155–160°C, dengan nilai tertinggi sebesar 5398 g/15 mm pada kondisi non auto. Solusi yang direkomendasikan adalah melakukan penggantian screen changer sebelum melt pressure mencapai 70 kgf, meningkatkan kompetensi operator, menerapkan preventive maintenance, serta mengendalikan kualitas material dan lingkungan produksi untuk mencegah terjadinya hottac.

ABSTRACT
Extrusion lamination is a process applied to engineering materials in the form of thermoplastics or polymers. Its working principle is similar to that of metal extrusion; however, it differs in machine construction, where the use of a ram is replaced by a screw. Hottac is one of the common problems encountered in the extrusion lamination process and can significantly affect the quality of laminated products. This study aims to identify the causes of hottac, analyze its impact on product quality, and determine appropriate troubleshooting solutions for the extrusion lamination machine at PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk Flexible Packaging Division. The research employed direct observation in the production area, interviews with machine operators, and a review of relevant literature. Data analysis was conducted using the 5W+1H approach to identify root causes based on the factors of man, machine, method, material, and environment. The results indicate that hottac occurs due to blockages in the screen changer, causing an increase in melt pressure from the normal operating condition of approximately 60 kgf to 80–90 kgf. This condition restricts the flow of EAA resin and may lead to material degradation, resulting in reduced lamination bond strength. Sealing strength testing showed that the optimum bonding performance was achieved at a sealing temperature range of 155–160°C, with the highest value of 5,398 g/15 mm obtained under the non-auto condition. Recommended solutions include replacing the screen changer before melt pressure reaches 70 kgf, improving operator competence, implementing preventive maintenance, and controlling material quality and production environment conditions to prevent hottac occurrences.
