DESAIN SOUND EFFECT SEBAGAI ELEMEN PEMBENTUK KETEGANGAN DAN STIGMA SOSIAL DALAM FILM PENDEK "DOSA TAK BERTUAN"

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini membahas penerapan sound effect dalam membangun ketegangan naratif dan merepresentasikan stigma sosial melalui perspektif pendengaran tokoh Ucup pada film pendek "Dosa Tak Bertuan". Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada peran suara dalam film yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pelengkap visual, tetapi juga sebagai elemen dramatik yang mampu membentuk emosi, atmosfer, dan sudut pandang karakter. Fokus penelitian terletak pada perancangan konsep tata suara yang memanfaatkan sound effect sebagai media utama untuk menghadirkan ketegangan sekaligus pengalaman subjektif tokoh terhadap tekanan sosial yang dialaminya. Perspektif pendengaran dibangun bukan dari keterbatasan fisik karakter, melainkan dari posisi marginalnya sebagai saksi diam yang mengamati dari luar ruang — menjadikan suara sebagai satu-satunya akses informasi yang ia miliki terhadap peristiwa di dalam. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan praktik berbasis penciptaan karya, di mana penulis berperan sebagai penata suara pada tahap pra-produksi, produksi, hingga pascaproduksi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi pustaka, observasi proses produksi, serta analisis film "A Quiet Place" (2018). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan suara off-screen, manipulasi ruang dengar, dinamika intensitas, dan layering suara mampu memperkuat ketegangan naratif sekaligus merepresentasikan stigma sosial secara auditori.

ABSTRACT
This study examines the application of sound effects in building narrative tension and representing social stigma through the auditory perspective of the character Ucup in the short film "Dosa Tak Bertuan". The research is grounded in the role of sound in film as not merely a visual complement but a dramatic element capable of shaping emotion, atmosphere, and point of view. The focus lies on designing a sound concept that employs sound effects as the primary medium to create tension and convey the character's subjective experience of social pressure. The auditory perspective is constructed not from any physical limitation of the character, but from his marginal position as a silent witness who observes from outside the space — making sound the only channel of access he has to the events occurring within. The research uses a qualitative method with a practice-based approach, in which the author acts as the sound designer throughout pre-production, production, and post-production stages. Data were collected through literature review, production observation, and analysis of the film "A Quiet Place" (2018). The findings indicate that off-screen sound, spatial manipulation, dynamic intensity, and sound layering effectively enhance narrative tension while audibly representing social stigma.
