ABSTRACT

Film, as an audio-visual medium, functions not only as entertainment but also as a form of communication that conveys meaning through visual and narrative elements. One of the most commonly used formats is the short film, which requires effective and efficient production planning due to its limited duration and resources. This report aims to examine the role of the producer in controlling the location scouting process as part of production management in a short film project. The report outlines the stages of location scouting, including script breakdown, determining location criteria, conducting field surveys, and evaluating locations based on technical and operational aspects such as accessibility, lighting, sound conditions, facilities, safety, and permits. The final project specifically focuses on the short film Reaksi Rasa, a drama-romance film that explores emotional conflicts, unexpressed feelings, and the blurred boundary between reality and imagination. Through the implementation of the controlling function by the producer, supported by a structured checklist system, this report demonstrates that effective control of location scouting can minimize production obstacles, maintain shooting schedules, and optimize budget usage. Therefore, proper location management not only supports the visual and narrative needs of the film but also improves overall production efficiency and workflow.

Film sebagai media audio-visual tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai sarana komunikasi yang membangun makna melalui unsur visual dan naratif. Salah satu bentuk karya yang banyak digunakan adalah film pendek, yang menuntut perencanaan produksi yang efektif dan efisien karena keterbatasan durasi dan sumber daya. Laporan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran produser dalam mengontrol proses location scouting sebagai bagian dari manajemen produksi film pendek. Laporan ini membahas tahapan location scouting yang meliputi pembedahan naskah, penentuan kriteria lokasi, pelaksanaan survei lapangan, serta evaluasi lokasi berdasarkan aspek teknis dan operasional seperti aksesibilitas, pencahayaan, kondisi suara, fasilitas, keselamatan, dan perizinan. Karya tugas akhir ini berfokus pada produksi film pendek Reaksi Rasa yang bergenre drama romantis dengan tema konflik emosional, perasaan yang terpendam, serta batas antara realitas dan imajinasi. Melalui penerapan fungsi controlling oleh produser yang didukung dengan penggunaan sistem checklist, hasil menunjukkan bahwa pengendalian location scouting mampu meminimalkan kendala produksi, menjaga ketepatan jadwal shooting, serta mengoptimalkan penggunaan anggaran. Dengan demikian, pengelolaan lokasi yang tepat tidak hanya mendukung kebutuhan visual dan naratif film, tetapi juga meningkatkan efektivitas serta kelancaran proses produksi secara keseluruhan.
