PENGOLAHAN KAIN SISA PRODUKSI MENGGUNAKAN TEKNIK CRAZY PATCHWORK PADA PEMBUATAN BUSANA READY TO WEAR STUDI KASUS:KAYO

ABSTRAK

The fashion industry is one of the major contributors to the increasing amount of textile waste, including production fabric waste. Kayo brand generates approximately 14 kg of fabric waste per month, predominantly denim, which has not been utilized optimally. This study aims to process denim production fabric waste into ready-to-wear garments using the crazy patchwork technique to create products with aesthetic,functional, and sustainable value. This research employed a qualitative method using the Hasso Plattner Design Thinking approach, consisting of the emphatize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data were collected through literature studies, observations, interviews, and questionaires. The results of the study produced five selected garment designs that were realized as final products. Based on the feasibility test, the prototype received positive evaluations in terms of design, comfort, material innovation, product quality, and the implementation of sustainable fashion principles. The findings indicate that the crazy patchwork technique can optimize the utilization of denim production fabric waste into value-added fashion products that are feasible for production while supporting sustainable fashion practices.

Industri fashion merupakan salah satu penyumbang limbah tekstil yang terus meningkat, termasuk limbah kain sisa produksi. Brand Kayo menghasilkan sekitar 14 kg limbah kain per bulan yang didominasi oleh denim dan belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Penelitian ini mengolah kain sisa produksi denim menggunakan teknik crazy patchwork menjadi busana ready to wear yang memiliki nilai estetika, fungsional, dan berkelanjutan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan Design Thinking Hasso Plattner yang meliputi tahapan emphatize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi literatur, observasi, wawancara, kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menghasilkan lima desain terpilih yang direalisasikan menjadi produk akhir. Berdasarkan hasil uji kelayakan, prototype memperoleh penilaian positif pada aspek desain, kenyamanan, inovasi material, kualitas produk, serta penerapan konsep sustainable fashion. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa teknik crazy patchwork mampu mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan kain sisa produksi denim menjadi produk fashion yang bernilai tambah, layak diproduksi, dan mendukung praktik fashion berkelanjutan.
