PROSES PEMBUATAN CINCIN EMAS DI QTA JEWELLERY DALAM PHOTOGRAPHY STORY

ABSTRACT
A photography story is a visual storytelling approach that presents a sequence of photographs arranged systematically to create a coherent narrative. This approach not only showcases the final outcome of an activity but also illustrates each stage of the process in a structured and informative manner. One process with significant documentary value is the handmade gold ring production at Qta Jewellery. However, this process has not been systematically documented, limiting public understanding of the artisans’ craftsmanship and production stages. Therefore, this final project aims to visualize the gold ring-making process at Qta Jewellery through a photography story approach. The implementation consisted of pre-production, production, and post-production stages, while data were collected through observation, interviews, and literature study. The creative process applied the concepts of photojournalism, photography story, and the EDFAT (Entire, Detail, Frame, Angle, and Time) method as guidelines for photographic documentation. The final work consists of 15 photographs arranged narratively, depicting the workshop environment, gold melting, ring shaping, stone setting, quality control, and the finished product. The application of composition, lighting, camera angles, and the EDFAT method produced informative photographs with aesthetic value. The results show that the photography story approach is an effective medium for visual documentation, information dissemination, and promotion while enhancing public appreciation of the handmade gold ring making process and the craftsmanship of local jewelry artisans.

ABSTRAK
Photography story merupakan penyajian cerita melalui rangkaian foto yang disusun secara sistematis sehingga mampu membangun narasi visual yang utuh. Pendekatan ini tidak hanya menampilkan hasil akhir suatu kegiatan, tetapi juga memperlihatkan setiap tahapan proses secara runtut dan informatif. Salah satu proses yang memiliki nilai dokumentasi visual adalah pembuatan cincin emas handmade di Qta Jewellery. Namun, proses tersebut belum terdokumentasikan secara sistematis sehingga masyarakat belum memperoleh gambaran mengenai keterampilan dan tahapan kerja para pengrajin. Oleh karena itu, tugas akhir ini bertujuan memvisualisasikan proses pembuatan cincin emas di Qta Jewellery melalui pendekatan photography story. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui tahap praproduksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Dalam proses penciptaan karya, penulis menerapkan konsep fotografi jurnalistik, photography story, serta metode EDFAT (Entire, Detail, Frame, Angle, dan Time) sebagai pedoman pengambilan gambar. Hasil karya berupa 15 foto yang disusun secara naratif mulai dari pengenalan bengkel, proses peleburan emas, pembentukan cincin, pemasangan batu, pemeriksaan kualitas, hingga hasil akhir produk. Penerapan komposisi, pencahayaan, sudut pengambilan gambar, dan metode EDFAT menghasilkan karya yang informatif sekaligus memiliki nilai estetis. Berdasarkan hasil penciptaan karya, pendekatan photography story efektif digunakan sebagai media dokumentasi visual, penyampaian informasi, serta media promosi yang mampu meningkatkan apresiasi masyarakat terhadap proses pembuatan cincin emas dan keterampilan pengrajin lokal.
