Abstract

The development of the music industry requires musicians to have a strong visual identity through stage wear. Band Dakara, a progressive rock group with a 1970s aesthetic, does not yet have collective stage wear that represents the complexity of their work, resulting in suboptimal stage presence and visual unity among the personnel. The objective of this design is to create an exclusive stage wear collection by adapting the 1970s Bohemian Hippie concept, which reflects the freedom of expression characteristic of progressive rock. The design method utilizes Hasso Plattner's Design Thinking approach (Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test). Natural fiber materials, namely bamboo linen and rayon twill, were selected to support the musicians' comfort and mobility. Visual aesthetics were achieved through textile manipulation exploration methods using diagonal pleated tie-dye and burning techniques. The design results were realized into five stage wear looks with fluid silhouettes and a warm color palette (orange and brown) that create a raw and organic visual texture. In conclusion, this stage wear collection has proven successful as a functional and effective visual communication medium to harmonize the personnel's appearance, strengthen branding, and fully express the artistic character of Band Dakara's music.
