PERANCANGAN DAILY WEAR UNISEX BERGAYA UTILITARIAN DENGAN TEKNIK CONVERTIBLE DI BRAND WHITE NOISE FM

ABSTRACT

White Noise FM is a local brand that combines classic workwear elements with modern utilitarian style through a design approach inspired by functional objects in everyday life. This identity is reflected in the use of functional details, technical construction, and silhouettes that support mobility. However, the development of unisex daily wear that can adapt to users’ various activities and needs has not yet been fully realized. This study aims to design a collection of unisex daily wear with a utilitarian style using convertible techniques as a product innovation that maintains White Noise FM’s identity while addressing the needs of highly mobile creative professionals. The method used is Hasso Plattner’s Design Thinking, which consists of the following stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The results of the study show that the application of convertible techniques can increase the flexibility of garment use through the development of various transformation mechanisms. The design process produced five garment designs that integrate additional functions into each product, thereby supporting the mobility and activity needs of creative professionals without compromising either functionality or aesthetics.

ABSTRAK
White Noise FM merupakan brand lokal yang menggabungkan karakter classic workwear dengan gaya utilitarian modern melalui pendekatan desain yang terinspirasi dari objek-objek fungsional dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Identitas tersebut tercermin melalui penggunaan detail fungsional, konstruksi teknikal, dan siluet yang mendukung mobilitas, namun pengembangan busana daily wear unisex yang mampu beradaptasi dengan berbagai aktivitas dan kebutuhan pengguna masih belum dilakukan secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang koleksi daily wear unisex bergaya utilitarian dengan teknik convertible sebagai inovasi produk yang tetap mempertahankan identitas White Noise FM sekaligus menjawab kebutuhan pekerja kreatif yang memiliki mobilitas tinggi. Metode yang digunakan adalah Design Thinking dari Hasso Plattner yang terdiri atas tahapan empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik convertible mampu meningkatkan fleksibilitas penggunaan busana melalui pengembangan berbagai mekanisme transformasi. Perancangan menghasilkan lima desain busana yang mengintegrasikan fungsi tambahan pada setiap produk sehingga mampu mendukung kebutuhan mobilitas dan aktivitas pekerja kreatif tanpa mengesampingkan aspek fungsional maupun estetika.
