MANAJEMEN PACING OLEH PROGRAM DIRECTOR DALAM PRODUKSI PROGRAM SPORTAINMENT “ PADEL ECHOES”

The television program "Padel Echoes" is a live streaming sportainment program that presents padel sports competition through an innovative entertainment approach. In the production of this program, the role of the program director is crucial in managing the program's pacing to effectively maintain audience engagement and ensure a seamless broadcast. This study aims to analyze the role of the program director in executing pacing management, which includes implementing visual strategies such as segment duration allocation, rhythm control through multi-camera switching, and tempo balancing applied in the production of live sports streaming. The writer employs observation, literature review, and direct participation as a program director to evaluate the effectiveness of the planning, execution, and post-production stages. The findings of this research indicate that proper pacing management through the optimization of control room coordination and structured rundown implementation enhances the dynamics of fast-paced entertainment, maintains narrative flow, and improves the overall viewing experience. This work also serves as a reference for students and media practitioners in understanding the managerial and technical roles of program directors in live television production.

Program televisi “Padel Echoes” merupakan program live streaming sportstainment yang mengangkat kompetisi olahraga padel dengan pendekatan hiburan yang inovatif. Dalam produksi program ini, peran program director sangat krusial dalam mengelola pacing program guna mempertahankan keterlibatan audiens serta memastikan kelancaran siaran secara efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran program director dalam mengeksekusi manajemen pacing, yang mencakup penerapan strategi visual seperti alokasi durasi segmen, pengaturan ritme melalui perpindahan gambar multikamera (switching), serta penyeimbangan tempo yang diterapkan dalam produksi live streaming sport tersebut. Penulis menggunakan metode observasi, studi pustaka, serta partisipasi langsung sebagai program director untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas perencanaan, pelaksanaan, hingga evaluasi pasca-produksi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa manajemen pacing yang tepat melalui pengoptimalan koordinasi ruang kontrol (control room) dan implementasi rundown yang terstruktur mampu memperkuat dinamika hiburan bertempo cepat, menjaga kesinambungan alur tayangan, serta meningkatkan pengalaman menonton. Karya ini juga menjadi referensi bagi mahasiswa maupun praktisi media dalam memahami peran teknis dan manajerial program director dalam produksi program televisi live.
