PERAN PENATA KAMERA DALAM PENERAPAN KOMPOSISI VISUAL SIMETRIS PADA UNSUR-UNSUR CENTER OF INTEREST DALAM PROGRAM DOKUMENTER TELEVISI “RAGA NUSANTARA”

Program dokumenter televisi Raga Nusantara merupakan dokumenter ekspositori yang mengangkat olahraga tradisional Indonesia sebagai warisan budaya yang mengandung nilai simbolik dan edukatif. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan menjelaskan peran penata kamera dalam menerapkan komposisi visual simetris pada unsur center of interest untuk mendukung penyampaian informasi kepada penonton. Komposisi visual simetris diterapkan melalui penempatan objek secara seimbang di dalam frame sehingga menghasilkan tampilan yang harmonis, stabil, dan teratur. Penulisan ini mengacu pada teori dokumenter televisi, sinematografi, komposisi visual simetris, dan penataan kamera. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi dan studi pustaka untuk memperoleh data serta referensi yang relevan. Pembahasan mencakup pelaksanaan tugas penata kamera pada tahap pra-produksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi, mulai dari perencanaan visual, observasi lokasi, persiapan teknis, pengaturan kamera, hingga penerapan komposisi visual simetris. Hasil penulisan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan komposisi visual simetris mampu mengarahkan perhatian penonton pada subjek utama, menciptakan keseimbangan visual, serta mendukung penyampaian pesan budaya secara lebih efektif. Dengan demikian, penata kamera berperan dalam menghasilkan tayangan dokumenter yang informatif, estetis, dan komunikatif sehingga nilai budaya olahraga tradisional dapat tersampaikan secara efektif.

Raga Nusantara is an expository television documentary that explores Indonesian traditional sports as a cultural heritage with symbolic and educational values. This final project aims to explain the role of the camera operator in applying symmetrical visual composition to the center of interest in order to support effective information delivery to the audience. Symmetrical visual composition is applied by positioning the main subject evenly within the frame, creating a harmonious, stable, and well-balanced visual presentation. This study is based on theories of television documentaries, cinematography, symmetrical visual composition, and camera operation. The methods employed were observation and literature review to obtain relevant data and references. The discussion focuses on the camera operator's responsibilities during the pre-production, production, and post-production stages, including visual planning, location observation, technical preparation, camera setup, and the application of symmetrical visual composition. The findings indicate that the application of symmetrical visual composition effectively directs the audience's attention to the main subject, creates visual balance, and enhances the delivery of cultural messages. Therefore, the camera operator plays an important role in producing documentary programs that are informative, aesthetically appealing, and communicative, enabling the cultural values of Indonesian traditional sports to be conveyed effectively.
