PENDEKATAN IMPRESIONISME DALAM PENYUTRADARAAN UNTUK MENERAPKAN TEKNIK STILISASI PADA FILM "SHE WHAT I SEE"

ABSTRAK
Film merupakan media audio visual yang mampu menyampaikan cerita, emosi, dan pengalaman subjektif tokoh melalui perpaduan unsur naratif dan visual. Karya ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan pendekatan impresionisme dalam penyutradaraan guna mewujudkan teknik stilisasi pada film She What I See sebagai representasi pengalaman subjektif tokoh utama melalui pengolahan unsur-unsur mise en scène. Metode penciptaan karya dilakukan melalui tahapan praproduksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi dengan menggunakan pendekatan impresionisme sebagai landasan penyutradaraan dalam merancang konsep visual film. Penerapan pendekatan tersebut diwujudkan melalui pengolahan staging, setting, costume/wardrobe, make up & hairdo, serta pencahayaan yang dirancang untuk membedakan dunia realitas dan dunia ideal tokoh Elena berdasarkan teori mise en scène Bordwell dan Thompson. Hasil penciptaan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik stilisasi melalui pengolahan unsur-unsur mise en scène mampu menghadirkan karakter visual yang berbeda antara dunia realitas dan dunia ideal, sehingga pengalaman subjektif, emosi, serta harapan tokoh dapat tersampaikan secara lebih ekspresif kepada penonton. Dengan demikian, pendekatan impresionisme dalam penyutradaraan terbukti efektif dalam mendukung pembentukan gaya visual film sekaligus memperkuat penyampaian makna dramatik melalui representasi kondisi batin tokoh.

ABSTRACT
Film is an audiovisual medium that conveys stories, emotions, and the subjective experiences of characters through the integration of narrative and visual elements. This work aims to apply an Impressionist approach to film directing in order to implement stylization techniques in the film She What I See as a representation of the main character's subjective experience through the manipulation of mise en scène elements. The filmmaking process was carried out through the stages of pre-production, production, and post-production using the Impressionist approach as the directing foundation for designing the film's visual concept. This approach was realized through the use of staging, setting, costume/wardrobe, make-up and hairdo, and lighting, all of which were designed to distinguish the reality world from Elena's ideal world based on Bordwell and Thompson's mise en scène theory. The results show that the application of stylization through mise en scène elements successfully creates a clear visual distinction between the real and ideal worlds, allowing the character's subjective experiences, emotions, and aspirations to be conveyed more expressively to the audience. Therefore, the Impressionist approach to directing proved effective in establishing the film's visual style while strengthening the dramatic meaning through the representation of the character's inner experience.
