PENERAPAN POINT OF AUDITION SEBAGAI PENGGAMBARAN EMOSIONAL KARAKTER DALAM FILM PENDEK “THE END OF THE WORLD”

As an audiovisual medium, film relies not only on visual elements but also on sound to construct meaning, emotion, and dramatic conflict. This study aims to describe the design of the sound viewpoint as an element of sound design in evoking emotion in the film “The End of the World”, which tells the story of a young married couple facing one final argument to determine whether their love is still worth fighting for or must end in divorce. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, examining the fiction film “The End of the World” as its object of study through work analysis and a sound design process grounded in Michel Chion’s theory of audiovisual relations (Audio-Vision). The results show that the sound viewpoint functions as a symbolic element representing emotions, feelings, and relationship disharmony. Furthermore, the mechanics of synchresis in foley elements and the continuity of sound bridges successfully reinforce dramatic conflict and the accumulation of anxiety non-verbally. In conclusion, the management of intensity, dimension, and precision of the sound viewpoint during post-production does not merely support the visuals; rather, it acts as an autonomous narrative instrument that effectively builds audience emotion and amplifies the depth of psychological crisis within the domestic melodrama genre.

Film sebagai media audio-visual tidak hanya mengandalkan unsur visual, tetapi juga suara dalam membangun makna, emosi, dan konflik dramatik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan rancangan sudut pandang suara sebagai elemen sound design dalam membangun emosi pada film “The End of The World”, yang mengisahkan sepasang suami istri muda saat menghadapi satu perdebatan terakhir untuk menentukan apakah cinta mereka masih layak diperjuangkan atau harus berakhir dengan perceraian. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan objek kajian berupa film fiksi “The End of The World”, melalui analisis karya dan proses perancangan suara yang berlandaskan pada teori relasi audio-visual Michel Chion (Audio-Vision). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sudut pandang suara berfungsi sebagai elemen simbolik yang merepresentasikan emosi, perasaan, dan ketidakharmonisan hubungan. Selain itu, mekanisme synchresis pada elemen foley dan kontinuitas sound bridge berhasil memperkuat konflik dramatik dan akumulasi kecemasan secara non-verbal. Kesimpulannya, pengaturan intensitas, dimensi, dan ketepatan sudut pandang suara dalam pascaproduksi tidak sekadar menjadi pendukung visual, melainkan bertindak sebagai instrumen naratif otonom yang secara efektif membangun emosi penonton serta mengamplifikasi kedalaman krisis psikologis dalam genre melodrama domestik.
