PERANCANGAN ULANG PRODUK SUEDE DAN KNITWEAR DENGAN MOTIF KEMBANG GOYANG PADA BRAND VOBIA

The Vobia brand has two products that are not very popular with customers: the suede Obsidian Oversized Work Jacket and the Buddy Knitwear Cardigan, which have shown low sales despite their high-quality materials. This study aims to redesign both products using a Hybrid Construction approach by incorporating a traditional motif from Jakarta—the Kembang Goyang—as a way to apply local wisdom. The research draws on Kate Fletcher’s Hybrid Construction theory, which combines different structures and materials to produce more innovative and valuable products. The method used is the Hasso Plattner Stanford Design Thinking framework, which includes the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data was collected through observation, interviews, sales analysis, benchmarking, and a questionnaire administered to 100 consumers. The results showed that 82% of respondents chose the Jakarta Batik motif and 41% chose the Kembang Goyang floral motif. These findings led to the selection of five designs, which were developed into prototypes. Testing revealed that the products align with Vobia’s brand identity, are comfortable to wear, and possess a stronger visual character. This study concludes that the Hybrid Construction approach and the implementation of the Kembang Goyang motif are capable of producing product innovations that strengthen brand identity and increase consumer appeal.

Brand Vobia memiliki dua produk yang kurang diminati konsumer, yaitu Work Jacket Oversized Obsidian berbahan suede dan Cardigan Knitwear Buddy, yang menunjukkan penjualan rendah meskipun memiliki kualitas material yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang ulang kedua produk tersebut melalui pendekatan Hybrid Construction dengan mengimplementasikan motif tradisional DKI Jakarta, yaitu Kembang Goyang, sebagai bentuk penerapan kearifan lokal. Penelitian mengacu pada pendekatan Hybrid Construction Kate Fletcher yang menggabungkan struktur dan material berbeda untuk menghasilkan produk yang lebih inovatif dan bernilai. Metode yang digunakan adalah Design Thinking Hasso Plattner Stanford yang meliputi tahap empathize, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, analisis penjualan, benchmarking, dan kuesioner kepada 100 konsumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 82% responden memilih motif Batik Jakarta dan 41% memilih motif flora Kembang Goyang. Temuan tersebut menghasilkan lima desain terpilih yang direalisasikan menjadi prototipe. Pengujian menunjukkan produk sesuai dengan identitas Vobia, nyaman digunakan, dan memiliki karakter visual yang lebih kuat. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan Hybrid Construction dan implementasi motif Kembang Goyang mampu menghasilkan inovasi produk yang memperkuat identitas brand serta meningkatkan daya tarik konsumen.
