PENERAPAN METODE OBSERVATIONAL STYLE OLEH PROGRAM DIRECTOR PADA PROGRAM FEATURE “SPORT QUEST”

Sports-themed Feature program production often faces challenges in presenting
natural footage due to retakes and blocking, which can reduce the spontaneity of
athlete behavior. This paper aims to examine the Program Director's strategy in
applying the Observational style method to the Feature Sport Quest program. The
method used is an Observational style approach by minimizing intervention during
the shooting process so that athlete activities can be recorded spontaneously. The
results of applying this method produce more natural visuals, spontaneous athlete
behavior, and a more engaging storyline. Thus, the Observational style method
effectively supports the presentation of informative, interesting, and inspiring
Feature programs.

Produksi program Feature bertema olahraga sering menghadapi tantangan dalam
menampilkan tayangan yang alami karena adanya retake dan pengarahan blocking
yang dapat mengurangi spontanitas perilaku atlet. Penulisan ini bertujuan mengkaji
strategi Program Director dalam menerapkan metode Observational style pada
program Feature Sport Quest. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan
Observational style dengan meminimalkan intervensi selama proses pengambilan
gambar sehingga aktivitas atlet dapat direkam secara spontan. Hasil penerapan
metode tersebut menghasilkan visual yang lebih natural, perilaku atlet yang
spontan, serta alur cerita yang lebih menarik. Dengan demikian, metode
Observational style efektif mendukung penyajian program Feature yang
informatif, menarik, dan inspiratif.
