PENGGUNAAN DIMENSI RITME BERPERAN MEMBEDAKAN EMOSI KARAKTER MELALUI TEMPO METRONOM PADA FILM "METRONOME"

This creative project discusses the application of the rhythm dimension through metronome tempo as a sound design strategy to differentiate character emotions in the short film Metronome. The project is based on the limited exploration of rhythm as a dramatic element in film sound design, where sound is generally used to support dialogue, ambience, and music rather than representing emotional development. This project aims to apply the rhythm dimension through metronome tempo to distinguish the emotional changes of the characters Arman and Rahana throughout the narrative. The creation process employs the theories of Added Value and Semantic Listening by Michel Chion as the conceptual foundation, emphasizing the relationship between sound and image in constructing emotional meaning. The implementation uses two metronome tempos, namely 88 BPM to represent harmony and 115 BPM to represent emotional conflict. The results demonstrate that changes in metronome tempo are capable of functioning as rhythmic cues that reinforce the audience's perception of the characters' emotional. Therefore, rhythm through metronome tempo can function as a dramatic sound design strategy that enriches the narrative experience in film.

Pengkaryaan ini membahas penggunaan dimensi ritme melalui tempo metronom sebagai strategi sound design untuk membedakan emosi karakter pada film pendek Metronome. Pengkaryaan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih terbatasnya pemanfaatan dimensi ritme sebagai elemen dramatik dalam sound design, yang umumnya lebih difokuskan pada dialog, ambience, dan musik daripada sebagai media penyampaian emosi karakter. Tujuan pengkaryaan ini adalah menerapkan dimensi ritme melalui tempo metronom untuk membedakan perubahan emosi tokoh Arman dan Rahana sepanjang alur cerita. Landasan konseptual yang digunakan adalah teori Added Value dan Semantic Listening dari Michel Chion yang menjelaskan hubungan antara suara dan gambar dalam membangun makna emosional. Penerapan konsep menggunakan dua tempo metronom, yaitu 88 BPM sebagai representasi hubungan yang harmonis dan 115 BPM sebagai representasi meningkatnya konflik emosional. Hasil pengkaryaan menunjukkan bahwa perubahan tempo metronom mampu berfungsi sebagai penanda ritmis yang memperkuat persepsi penonton terhadap perubahan emosi karakter tanpa bergantung sepenuhnya pada dialog. Dengan demikian, dimensi ritme melalui tempo metronom dapat menjadi strategi sound design yang mendukung penyampaian narasi dan pengalaman emosional dalam film.
