PENGGUNAAN TEKNIK EDITING PICTURE-IN-PICTURE OLEH EDITOR PADA PROGRAM GAME SHOW ONE DAY CARE

One Day Care is a game show program that places fathers and children as teammates completing missions in an open-air setting to strengthen their courage, communication, and cooperation. As editor, the author encountered a technical problem where the father's instructions and the child's physical responses occurred simultaneously, making single-angle editing insufficient to display both moments without losing narrative continuity. This writing aims to determine how the editor applies the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) editing technique to display the talents' simultaneous reactions in One Day Care. PiP is an editing technique that overlays a smaller video window onto the main footage, allowing two video sources to appear together within a single frame. Data were collected through indirect observation of reference programs and literature review. This technique was applied whenever the father's direction and the child's action occurred at the same time during production. The successful application of PiP is expected to help viewers fully understand both the father's and the child's behavior without missing either moment, while offering a reference for future editors handling similar production challenges.

One Day Care merupakan program game show yang menempatkan ayah dan anak sebagai rekan setim dalam menjalani misi di alam terbuka untuk memperkuat keberanian, komunikasi, dan kerja sama mereka. Sebagai editor, penulis menghadapi permasalahan teknis di mana arahan ayah dan respons fisik anak kerap terjadi secara bersamaan, sehingga editing dengan satu sudut pandang saja tidak cukup untuk menampilkan keduanya tanpa memutus kesinambungan naratif. Penulisan ini bertujuan mengetahui cara editor menerapkan teknik editing Picture-in-Picture (PiP) untuk menampilkan reaksi talent yang terjadi secara bersamaan pada program One Day Care. PiP merupakan teknik editing yang menempatkan overlay video berukuran kecil di atas video utama, sehingga dua sumber video dapat ditampilkan bersamaan dalam satu bingkai layar. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi tidak langsung terhadap program referensi serta studi pustaka. Teknik ini diterapkan setiap kali arahan ayah dan aksi anak terjadi pada waktu yang bersamaan selama proses produksi. Keberhasilan penerapan PiP ini diharapkan membantu penonton memahami perilaku ayah maupun anak secara utuh tanpa kehilangan salah satu momen, sekaligus menjadi rujukan bagi editor lain yang menghadapi tantangan produksi serupa.
