KOMPARASI SIFAT FISIK KERTAS BUFFALO 230 GSM UNTUK APLIKASI MAP DI PERUM PNRI

ABSTRAK
This study aims to examine and compare the physical properties of 230 gsm Buffalo
Paper produced by PT. Embossindo Utama and PT. Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills
for folder applications at Perum PNRI. The comparison was conducted based on
the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 0155:2010 Folder Paper) to determine the
paper quality that meets the standards. The test results show that the paper from PT.
Embossindo Utama has higher water absorption (220.027 g/m² on felt and 224.585
g/m² on wire) compared to the paper from PT. Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills
(21.784 g/m² on felt and 24.901 g/m² on wire). In the oil absorption test using the
IGT method, the paper from PT. Embossindo Utama showed better results (28.33
on wire and 24.45 on felt) compared to PT. Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills (32.26
on wire and 32 on felt), with SNI 7274:2008 specifying that the maximum oil
absorption is 30. For basis weight, the paper from PT. Embossindo Utama (212.732
g/m²) deviates 12.268 g/m² from the SNI, while PT. Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper
Mills (236.3 g/m²) deviates 11.3 g/m² from the SNI. The conclusion of this study is
that the paper from PT. Embossindo Utama is less recommended for folder
production at Perum PNRI, while the 230 gsm Buffalo paper from PT. Pindo Deli
Pulp and Paper Mills is considered to be of higher quality and compliant with SNI
0155:2010.

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji dan membandingkan sifat fisik Kertas Buffalo
230 gsm dari PT. Embossindo Utama dan PT. Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills
untuk aplikasi map di Perum PNRI. Komparasi dilakukan berdasarkan Standar
Nasional Indonesia (SNI 0155:2010 Kertas Map) untuk menentukan kualitas kertas
yang sesuai standar. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa kertas dari PT.
Embossindo Utama memiliki daya serap air yang lebih tinggi (220,027 g/m² pada
felt dan 224,585 g/m² pada wire) dibandingkan dengan kertas dari PT. Pindo Deli
Pulp and Paper Mills (21,784 g/m² pada felt dan 24,901 g/m² pada wire). Pada
pengujian daya serap minyak menggunakan metode IGT, kertas dari PT.
Embossindo Utama menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik (28,33 pada wire dan 24,45
pada felt) dibandingkan dengan PT. Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills (32,26 pada
wire dan 32 pada felt), dengan ketentuan SNI 7274:2008 bahwa daya serap minyak
maksimal adalah 30. Untuk berat dasar, kertas dari PT. Embossindo Utama
(212,732 g/m²) memiliki selisih 12,268 g/m² dari SNI, sementara PT. Pindo Deli
Pulp and Paper Mills (236,3 g/m²) memiliki selisih 11,3 g/m² dari SNI. Kesimpulan
dari penelitian ini adalah kertas dari PT. Embossindo Utama kurang
direkomendasikan untuk pembuatan map di Perum PNRI, sementara kertas Buffalo
230 gsm dari PT. Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills dinilai lebih berkualitas dan
sesuai dengan SNI 0155:2010.
