PERAN PENATA KAMERA DALAM MENERAPKAN TEKNIK SINEMATOGRAFI ARC SHOT PADA PROGRAM DOKUMENTER “BUMI BERKARYA”

This paper discusses the role of the camera operator in applying the arc shot cinematography technique in the documentary program entitled "Bumi Berkarya," which addresses the theme of modern agriculture through hydroponic methods. This documentary is an expository type that aims to provide visual education and strengthen the narrative message. Suryanto (2021:15) explains that the camera operator must have technical skills in using camera equipment and master cinematography principles such as framing, lighting, and camera movement. The camera operator plays a role not only in the technical aspects of shooting but also in translating the program director's vision into visual form. This paper was conducted through observation and literature study methods, documentation, and visual analysis. The results of the paper indicate that the pre-production stage is the main objective of documentary visuals, where the camera operator designs shotlists and floor plans, as well as conducting location surveys and equipment planning. During the production stage, the arc shot technique is applied to enrich the visualization of the subject. Meanwhile, in the post-production stage, the camera operator also plays a role in selecting footage. The conclusion of this final project emphasizes that the role of the camera operator is not merely a camera operator, but also a visual designer capable of processing factual information into a strong and meaningful visual experience.

Penulisan ini membahas peran penata kamera dalam menerapkan teknik sinematografi arc shot pada program dokumenter berjudul "Bumi Berkarya", yang mengangkat tema pertanian modern melalui metode hidroponik. Dokumenter ini termasuk tipe ekspositori yang bertujuan memberikan edukasi visual dan memperkuat pesan naratif. Suryanto (2021:15) menjelaskan bahwa penata kamera harus memiliki kemampuan teknis dalam menggunakan perangkat kamera dan menguasai prinsip sinematografi seperti framing, pencahayaan, hingga gerakan kamera. Penata kamera memiliki peran yang tidak hanya dalam aspek teknis pengambilan gambar, tetapi juga dalam menerjemahkan visi program director ke dalam bentuk visual. Penulisan ini dilakukan melalui dengan metode observasi dan studi pustaka, dokumentasi, dan analisis visual. Hasil penulisan menunjukkan bahwa tahap pra-produksi menjadi tujuan utama visual dokumenter, di mana penata kamera merancang shotlist, floorplan, serta melakukan survei lokasi dan perencanaan alat. Pada tahap produksi, teknik arc shot diterapkan untuk memperkaya visualisasi subjek. Sementara pada tahap pasca-produksi, penata kamera turut berperan dalam pemilihan footage. Kesimpulan dari tugas akhir ini menegaskan bahwa peran penata kamera bukan sekadar operator kamera, melainkan perancang visual yang mampu mengolah informasi faktual menjadi pengalaman visual yang kuat dan bermakna.
