Penyuntingan Naskah Novelet "The Day I Tried to Live"

This final project discusses the editing process of a novelette titled "The Day I Tried to Live" by Farras Ahmad Sidik, which highlights the issue of mental health among teenagers. The writer acts as the editor and applies two types of editing—mechanical and substantive—to improve the language quality, structure, and delivery of the story’s message. The aim of this final project is to address the problem related to how the mechanical and substantive editing processes are carried out in the novelette "The Day I Tried to Live". The method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study technique, referring to theories of mechanical and substantive editing. The editing process was carried out in three stages: pre-editing, core editing, and post-editing. The editing results include the identification and correction of 47 errors found in the manuscript.

Tugas akhir ini membahas proses penyuntingan naskah novelet berjudul "The Day I Tried to Live" karya Farras Ahmad Sidik, yang mengangkat isu kesehatan mental dalam kalangan remaja. Penulis berperan sebagai penyunting dan menerapkan dua jenis penyuntingan, yaitu mekanis dan substantif, guna meningkatkan kualitas kebahasaan, struktur, serta penyampaian pesan cerita. Tujuan dalam penulisan Tugas Akhir ini untuk menyelesaikan masalah terkait bagaimana proses penyuntingan mekanis dan substantif pada naskah novelet "The Day I Tried to Live". Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik studi pustaka, serta mengacu pada teori penyuntingan mekanis dan substantif. Proses penyuntingan dilakukan melalui tiga tahap: pra-penyuntingan, penyuntingan inti, dan pasca-penyuntingan. Hasil penyuntingan meliputi identifikasi dan perbaikan terhadap 47 kesalahan yang terdapat pada naskah.
