KOMPOSISI NEGATIVE SPACE UNTUK MEMBANGUN KECANGGUNGAN DALAM SINEMATOGRAFI FILM PENDEK "MEJA YANG TAK PERNAH SEPI"

Negative space composition is an important element in visual composition that can affect the way viewers process information in images. This study aims to determine and analyze how the use of negative space composition can support the dramatization of the story in the short film "MEJA YANG TAK PERNAH SEPI". This writing uses a method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, literature study and documentation through direct review of watching films that are in accordance with the theme to be raised. The main focus of this work is to see to what extent negative space composition can describe the awkwardness of the relationship between father and son. The results of the work that has been made show that the application of negative space in the film is able to strengthen the awkward atmosphere between the father and son characters, and help convey strong emotional conflicts visually. The author concludes that the use of negative space composition in the short film "MEJA YANG TAK PERNAH SEPI" shows that the composition is effective in describing awkwardness.

Komposisi negative space adalah elemen penting dalam komposisi visual yang dapat mempengaruhi cara penonton memproses informasi dalam gambar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis bagaimana penggunaan komposisi negative space dapat mendukung dramatisasi cerita pada film pendek ”MEJA YANG TAK PERNAH SEPI”. Penulisan ini menggunakan metode dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, studi pustaka dan dokumentasi melalui peninjauan langsung terhadapa menonton film yang sesuai dengan tema yang akan diangkat. Fokus utama pada karya ini adalah melihat sejauh mana komposisi negative space dapat menggambarkan kecanggungan hubungan antara ayah dan anak. Hasil karya yang sudah dibuat menunjukkan bahwa penerapan negative space dalam film tersebut mampu memperkuat suasana canggung antara tokoh ayah dan anak, serta membantu menyampaikan konflik emosional yang kuat secara visual. Penulis menyimpulkan dengan penggunaan komposisi negative space dalam film pendek ”MEJA YANG TAK PERNAH SEPI” menunjukkan bahwa komposisi tersebut efektif dalam menggambarkan kecanggungan.
