LAPORAN TUGAS AKHIR PERAN DoP DALAM MENERAPKAN KONSEP LIGHTING LOW KEY PADA FILM PENDEK "BENANG MERAH"

ABSTRACT
This final project report discusses the role of the Director of Photography (DoP) in applying the concept of low-key lighting in the production of a short film entitled "Benang Merah". This film tells the emotional story of a man who struggles to accept the loss of his wife and child through the process of finishing sewing unfinished baby clothes. In an effort to build a visual atmosphere that supports the narrative, the DoP plays a crucial role in designing the lighting, selecting visual production equipment, and coordinating the camera and lighting teams to create a deep dramatic atmosphere. The application of low-key lighting in this film has proven effective in strengthening the nuances of loss, alarm, and acceptance that are the core of the story. The methods used are journals, books, articles, and questionnaires. The results show that the use of lighting with high contrast and shadow dominance can support the emotional expression of the characters visually. This report is expected to be a practical and theoretical reference for students and film practitioners who want to apply similar lighting concepts.

ABSTRAK
Laporan tugas akhir ini membahas peran Director of Photography (DoP) dalam menerapkan konsep pencahayaan low key pada produksi film pendek berjudul "Benang Merah". Film ini mengangkat kisah emosional seorang pria yang berjuang menerima kepergian istri dan anaknya melalui proses menyelesaikan jahitan baju bayi yang belum sempat selesai. Dalam upaya membangun suasana visual yang mendukung narasi tersebut, DoP berperan penting dalam merancang pencahayaan, memilih alat produksi visual, serta mengoordinasikan tim kamera dan cahaya agar tercipta suasana dramatik yang mendalam. Penerapan lighting low key dalam film ini terbukti efektif memperkuat nuansa kehilangan, kehampaan, dan penerimaan yang menjadi inti cerita. Metode yang digunakan jurnal, buku, artikel, kuesioner. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan lighting dengan kontras tinggi dan dominasi bayangan mampu mendukung ekspresi emosional tokoh secara visual. Laporan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi praktis dan teoretis bagi mahasiswa maupun praktisi film yang ingin menerapkan konsep pencahayaan serupa.
