PROSES SINEMATOGRAFI DALAM MENERAPKAN FRAMING DALAM FILM ‘KIOS KEOS’

Abstract

This final project report discusses the role of cinematography, particularly framing techniques, in strengthening the visual narrative in a short comedy fiction film entitled ‘KIOS KEOS’. This film raises the conflict between traditional and modern approaches in running a family shop business, which is represented through the father-son relationship between Ayman and Aqil. The author acts as Director of Photography (DoP), focusing on creating visual compositions that support the dynamics of the characters, space, and emotions of the story. Through a structured cinematographic approach from pre-production to post-production, framing techniques are used to direct the audience's attention, create relationships between characters, and convey symbolism between the traditional and modern worlds. Meanwhile, high-key lighting is used to build a warm atmosphere, in line with the characteristics of the comedy genre. The final result shows that the application of appropriate framing can strengthen the visuals and provide a communicative and meaningful cinematic experience.

Abstrak

Laporan tugas akhir ini membahas peran sinematografi, khususnya teknik framing, dalam memperkuat narasi visual pada film pendek fiksi bergenre komedi berjudul ‘KIOS KEOS’. Film ini mengangkat konflik antara pendekatan tradisional dan modern dalam menjalankan usaha toko keluarga, yang direpresentasikan melalui hubungan ayah-anak antara Ayman dan Aqil. Penulis berperan sebagai Director of Photography (DoP), dengan fokus pada penciptaan komposisi visual yang mendukung dinamika karakter, ruang, dan emosi cerita. Melalui pendekatan sinematografi yang terstruktur dari pra-produksi hingga pasca-produksi, teknik framing digunakan untuk mengarahkan perhatian penonton, menciptakan relasi antar karakter, dan menyampaikan simbolisasi antara dunia tradisional dan modern. Sementara itu, pencahayaan high key digunakan untuk membangun suasana yang hangat, selaras dengan karakteristik genre komedi. Hasil akhir menunjukkan bahwa penerapan framing yang tepat mampu memperkuat visual dan memberikan pengalaman sinematik yang komunikatif dan bermakna.
