REPRESENTASI KETERASINGAN TOKOH MELALUI POINT OF AUDITION DALAM FILM “SHE WHAT I SEE”

ABSTRACT
This study examines the application of the Point of Audition (POA) technique in representing the main character’s sense of alienation in the fiction short film She What I See. Point of Audition is employed as a subjective sound perspective to convey the psychological condition and emotional experience of the character through auditory perception. The study focuses on the manipulation of sound elements, including ambience, volume, sound texture, silence, tinnitus effects, heartbeat sounds, and muffled sound, to create an immersive listening experience that reflects the character’s isolation and emotional distance from the surrounding environment. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method by analysing several key scenes in the film based on the implementation of sound design during the post-production process. The findings indicate that the Point of Audition technique effectively strengthens the representation of the character’s loneliness, emotional detachment, and psychological alienation. Furthermore, the integration of subjective sound elements enables the audience to understand the character’s internal experience more deeply while enhancing the emotional impact of the narrative. Therefore, Point of Audition can be considered an effective sound design approach for communicating psychological conditions and supporting storytelling in fiction films.

Penelitian ini membahas penerapan teknik Point of Audition (POA) dalam merepresentasikan keterasingan tokoh utama pada film fiksi pendek She What I See. Point of Audition digunakan sebagai perspektif pendengaran subjektif untuk menyampaikan kondisi psikologis dan pengalaman emosional tokoh melalui elemen tata suara. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengolahan unsur-unsur suara, seperti ambience, volume, tekstur suara, keheningan, efek tinnitus, suara detak jantung, serta efek muffled untuk menciptakan pengalaman mendengar yang mencerminkan kesepian, keterasingan, dan jarak emosional tokoh terhadap lingkungan di sekitarnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menganalisis beberapa adegan utama berdasarkan penerapan desain suara pada tahap pascaproduksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik Point of Audition mampu memperkuat representasi kondisi psikologis tokoh melalui perspektif pendengaran subjektif sehingga penonton dapat memahami pengalaman batin tokoh secara lebih mendalam. Penerapan elemen elemen suara tersebut juga meningkatkan penyampaian emosi serta mendukung alur penceritaan film. Dengan demikian, Point of Audition dapat menjadi salah satu pendekatan desain suara yang efektif dalam merepresentasikan kondisi psikologis tokoh dan memperkuat penyampaian narasi pada film fiksi.
