PERAN PENATA KAMERA DALAM MENENTUKAN KOMPOSISI VISUAL PADA PROGRAM DOKUMENTER WARNA-WARNI INKLUSI

This final project explores the role of the cinematographer in applying handheld techniques in an expository documentary program highlighting the theme of creative industry communities for people with disabilities. The documentary aims to provide an in-depth understanding for the audience about the struggles, creativity, and contributions of this community to society. The handheld technique was chosen as a visual approach to create an intimate, dynamic, and realistic impression, enhancing the emotional impact of the story. Through a case study of the documentary production, the author identifies that the cinematographer’s role extends beyond technical aspects such as composition, lighting, and camera movement. It also includes adaptability in the field, especially in situations requiring spontaneous footage. The production process involved observation, interviews, and direct documentation at the community’s location, demanding close collaboration between the cinematographer and the production team to ensure visuals aligned with the expository narrative. The final result of this project demonstrates that the use of handheld techniques enhances the visual experience, supporting the essence of the story and fostering emotional closeness between the audience and the documentary's subjects. This study is expected to serve as a reference for media practitioners in understanding and developing effective filming techniques for documentary programs.

Tugas akhir ini membahas peran penata kamera dalam menentukan komposisi visual pada program dokumenter berjenis ekspositori yang mengangkat tema tentang komunitas industri kreatif penyandang disabilitas. Dokumenter ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam kepada audiens mengenai perjuangan, kreativitas, dan kontribusi komunitas tersebut dalam masyarakat. Komposisi pengambilan gambar pada program dokumenter ini sebagai pendekatan visual untuk menciptakan kesan intim, dan realistis, sehingga mampu memperkuat emosi yang ingin disampaikan. Melalui studi kasus produksi dokumenter ini, penulis mengidentifikasi bahwa peran penata kamera tidak hanya berfokus pada aspek teknis seperti komposisi, pencahayaan, dan gerakan kamera, tetapi juga pada kemampuan adaptasi di lapangan, terutama dalam situasi yang membutuhkan pengambilan gambar spontan. Proses produksi melibatkan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi langsung di lokasi komunitas, yang menuntut kolaborasi erat antara penata kamera dan tim produksi untuk memastikan hasil visual yang sesuai dengan narasi ekspositori. Hasil akhir dari tugas ini menunjukkan bahwa menentukan komposisi pada program dokumenter mampu memberikan pengalaman visual yang mendukung esensi cerita dan membantu meningkatkan kedekatan emosional antara audiens dan subjek dokumenter. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi praktisi media dalam memahami dan mengembangkan teknik pengambilan gambar yang efektif untuk program dokumenter.
